Atheists are no better than religious nuts

I've been writing on AtheistForums.com for quite some time now. And I can tell you, these people are no better than the religious nuts they are attacking.

You can't disagree with them. If you do, even the moderator of the forum will shout out vulgar language towards you, attacking you as a person/individual, and even accusing you of being a
religious nut yourself.

I simply can't help but notice again, and again, and again throughout history of mankind, that every community will be angry towards anyone who do not conform strictly to their ideas.

I did not attack Darwin. You know what I did? All I asked was if there was a possibility that religion is not neccessarily the root of all evil, but that evil comes from politics, and that the
religious nuts aren't really pulling religion down on politics, its the other way around: One's political opinions are reflected in your religious beliefs. Ie. If you think God hates liberals,
it is because YOU hate liberals.

That innocent little thing could get the atheist forum members into a vulgar attack on me as a person, shouting "f**k you", "do you f*****g understand that..."

I don't hate atheists. I don't hate religious people. But I hate communities and group adherence and I despise conformity.
THAT is the root of all evil. And atheists are conformists too, when grouped, thus they become no better than the religious people.

I argued on WP the premise of the movie 'Prometheus' is possible, that evolution could be pre-determined based on DNA forming selectively (based on deterministic bias) and had to endure numerous insults.

Insults come from insecurity, so when an atheist insults you, it exposes their lack of confidence in what they believe.

I've had a quick look through some of the threads on there and, let's be honest, it's hardly a hotbed of intelligent discussion and original thought. That Dunkle guy's avatar states that he is a "proud a**hole", which requires only the addition of the prefix "disproportionately" to accurately represent him.

I think it's safe to say the problem here has less to do with theistic leanings, more to do with an online community bereft of sensible moderation. That Dunkle himself is a moderator is itself a damning indictment.

I do agree, to an extent, with your views on communities in general - especially online forums for special interest groups. All too often they devolve into a quasi-parodic caricature of the worst possible aspects of their denizens, as each new post is met by mutual back-patting and "outsiders" are flamed into submissive obedience to the hive-mind.

There are extremists in every group. In the Atheist community, Atheist forums is a quasi-extremist group. In the Christian community, from what I have seen of your posts here, I would categorize you as an extremist. Atheist forums do not represent the majority of Atheists. What is your purpose in visiting Atheist forums? Are you trying to understand and create dialogue to tolerance or are you going to Atheist forums in order to troll and argue? If you have 2 extremes joining together with no intent or desire to understand each other you are going to have conflict, and nothing else. Maybe you are as much responsible for what you are experiencing in their forums as they are.

The whole trouble with any such discussion is a combination of ignorance and intolerance.

Ignorance is not a bad thing, but when people try to push an agenda based on ignorance, that's when it's a bad thing.

Intolerance is also another type of ignorance. It assumes that regardless of where someone is in their life, you can badger them or disrespect them into changing their view. Doing so actually ignores the person they are targeting.

A good example of such intolerance is Richard Dawkins. I have very similar beliefs to him, but I dislike his belittling attitude in how he treats theists.

So all atheists are comparable to religious nuts? Are there no atheists comparable to religious non-nuts? Are there no atheist non-nuts?

I see the OP has a clear 3 step plan for dealing with Athiests.

Step 1: Sign up for a website that I would never actually associate with.
Step 2: Post my own religious f***nuttery to troll and provoke them.
Step 3: Make thread in other forum and pretend I'm a put upon victim.

That's closer to the truth... also, most atheists are better than some religious people, and most religious people are better than some atheists, and some atheists are better than most religious people, and so forth.

In a world where it's reasonable to say 'nothing good comes from religion' it's reasonable to assert that ALL atheists are comparable to religious nuts...

That is not an accurate statement, incidentally.

After you stated that the premise of "Prometheus" was possible, there were several firm but civil pages dedicated to showing that you were wrong. You made scientific, philosophical and logical errors, but were not insulted until you said there was

But by all means, continue to present a distorted picture of the evidence in order to support your world view.
