Home Secretary Theresa May: The 59-year-old has replaced Boris Johnson as the bookies' favourite to win the contest. She's held the Home Office brief - often something of a poisoned chalice - since 2010, and is a former Tory party chairman. She says she can offer the "strong leadership" and unity the UK needs, and promised a "positive vision" for the country's future. She backed staying in the EU.


On her party's future: "(It is) nothing less than the patriotic duty of our party to unite and to govern in the best interests of the whole country. We need a bold, new positive vision for the future of our country - a country that works not for a privileged few but for every one of us." Says people want more than just a "Brexit PM" and has vowed to unify the Leave and Remain factions in the party.

Where she stands on Brexit: Backed Remain campaign but says vote to come out must be respected. "Brexit means Brexit. The campaign was fought, the vote was held, turnout was high and the public gave their verdict. There must be no attempts to remain inside the EU, no attempts to rejoin it through the back door and no second referendum." Mrs May also said there should be no general election before 2020 and no "emergency" Brexit budget - and that she would abandon the target of eliminating Britain's Budget deficit by the end of the decade - a day before the chancellor himself abandoned it.

When she would trigger Article 50: Would not push the button to take Britain out of the EU before the end of 2016, to give Britain time to "finalise" its negotiating stance.

Free movement policy: "It must be a priority to allow British companies to trade with the single market in goods and services but also to regain more control of the numbers of people who are coming here from Europe."
She has said the status of EU nationals living in the UK would form part of the forthcoming Brexit negotiations, refusing to guarantee that they will be allowed to remain, in contrast to her rivals.

Energy minister Andrea Leadsom: The 53-year-old former banker and fund manager was one of the stars of the Leave campaign. A former district councillor, she became MP for South Northamptonshire in 2010 and - after serving as a junior Treasury minister and as a member of the Treasury select committee - she was made a junior minister in the energy and climate change department in May last year.

Leaving the U.K "It's not just about leaving something, it's about re-engaging with the rest of the world," she says.
She also says she has a "real desire to see the social justice in our country turned around", and, if elected, would focus on mental health, improving skills and getting young people into work.

Where she stands on Brexit: She campaigned to get Britain out of the EU and has described the referendum result as "a huge opportunity for our great country". She believes in scrapping free movement and wants free trade negotiations with the rest of the world. She told Sky News: "My personal view, very genuinely, is the next leader is someone who has to deliver on the promise of the referendum because they can see the huge advantages and they believe in them. I think it's very difficult for somebody who campaigned to stay in, who thinks that there will be disaster if we leave, to suddenly turn it around and start believing we can make a go of it."

Free movement policy: Has promised to guarantee the rights of EU citizens currently living and working in the UK - but suggested new arrangements for people arriving after 23 June.

Andrea Leadsom is a religious bigot. She voted against gay marriage and LGBT rights, saying that they "hurt Christians". So f**k her, that's all I can say.

These aren't frontrunners, they're the only runners. The rest have been eliminated.

Theresa is the first home secretary, probably in all the world, to ban chemistry. Seriously.

Neither of them are credible candidates in my opinion. I won't be voting Tory at a general election with either of them at the helm; not that Corbyn is worth voting for either, so I'll probably end up not voting at all.

And in the long run, this is the sort of choice you'll have in leaders. The new Right won't worship homosexuals, but they aren't going to persecute them either, the Left however will happily pump more and more people worthy of the title bigot into our countries at a great cost to the gay population. Make your choice wisely.



The so-called "far right" are siding with women and homosexuals in Sweden, the same cannot be said of the left leaning establishment.

There are far more important things to sort out than who can and cannot get married. Personally picking fixing the country over that trumps all for me.

Edit: I'd like to add that if you're in a position where your major concern about a politician is whether you can get married or not, you are surely distanced from poor, struggling working class.

All I can see is that Theresa will win hands down and that Leadsom, will only 'lead some'... whereas others will back down to allow room for a in more ways than one Conservative lady and real leader, but God forbid, another Thatcherite. This is difficult for anyone who is not a Torrie or doesn't like to follow too much of what the media is saying, but the quotas are there for al to see even if some seem too lurid to see.

Am I upset that this Andrea woman replaced Boris as did Gough in the post Brexit aftermath? a bit.. but unlike new Corbanites, I feel he saved his own bacon with some dignity intact.

As of Wednesday, Theresa May is the new PM.

Of course! some mothers don't like May, but I think she has a lot to give. As for kicking out the Cameron's of N.O 10, I'd say it's about time too. It's up for the pensioners, downhill for the fat cats, from here.

A lot to give to the ideology of autocratic dictators... she was elected by only 200 people out of 64 million in this country, thus she has no mandate.
