So, apparently people who throw something like sulfuric or other other corrosive substances gets about 5 years... this, of course, has no effect on the possibilities of getting one's hands on that kind of substance. Some are used legitimately, but other than legislation tackling employers (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002) there is very little otherwise seemingly. Nitrate acid seems to be regulated, but sulphuric acid is only 'reportable'. So, indeed, humanity doesn't mind the use of acid to permanently disfigure and otherwise utterly destroy someone else's life... but not for the subjective self to experience the universe and other such fractal imagery. Even the UN lists such substances *in order* to stop them getting used as precursors. Having a charred face is seriously less alarming than popping a pill?
