You might think this an apples vs. oranges comparison, however it's interesting that both of these inspired films that saw wide release in the US this year.

Clearly these are both tragedies - my sympathy for the victims of both.

I don't rank tragedies like that, neither should of happened alto I imagie the Deepwater Horizon people will find justice before the victims of Benghazi.

true. judging disasters si ridculous. but since you asked, here's my thinking:
Benghazi was tragic in intensity for a smal number of people, whereas deepwater horizon was still dramatic and life changing, even poisoning people- yet less acutely intense. However, the sheer amount of damage done to a vast number of people, plus the irreversible damage to the ecosystem.... the deep water horizon disaster is a major catastrophe in the accident-ladden history of fossil fuels.
Benghazi, with all respect, is a footnote in a horrible, unplanned war.

In other words, there is a movie about a terrorist attack that was fueled by a movie.
