This issue seems to have been side-tracked by sensationalism lately. What do people here think of our tax system? Should we tax the rich more? Less? What should lower income brackets pay? Discuss...
Personally, I think that higher taxes (50% and up) should be applied as a tactical check on greed. After $1 million, steeper rates could discourage CEOs from cutting corners within company operations. Professionals or people who had to learn a useful skillset don't typically have salaries exceeding 6 figures, so even they wouldn't be affected by targeted increases.
Of course, there is much less momentum towards tax increases of any kind at the moment, but I'm not sure that all Trump supporters are on board with lowering taxes for the wealthy. My family, for instance, is largely conservative and even they take issue with corporate greed and are personally affected by it.
