This is what happens when you see everything as a conspiracy against you. If it is always the Patriarchy™ that is out to get you. Even something as innocuous as Snow Ploughing.

This could just as well be a Maoist Snow Ploughing policy.

Of course the is not misandrist to imply that men don't care about women and children that they are related to or are partners with.

Who exactly asked for this? Politicians should be beholden to their constituents. However I suspect this came from ill-conceived theory, rather then a genuine need. As merit is not championed in Sweden due to social justice approach, inevitably you will get a poor quality of public officials, which is bad for female talent as well as male.

There is sophisticated data-modelling that goes into predicting traffic patterns and the consequences of doing something like this. I wonder is the people who enacted this were warned of the consequences of doing this, and whether these warning were taken as the Patriarchy trying to claw back.

It would be better if they spent the money on teaching these people empiricism, mathematics and data modelling, than social theories.

But remember the needs of the few overrule the needs of the many.

We have a different system in Connecticut--each town or city has its own budget. A smart driver just has to select driving routes through the rich towns. Fortunately, the snow rarely lasts for more than a week, so you can reschedule trips through the poor cities.

I don't understand the premise of the "pro-women" snowplowing. Don't women drive in the city? Of course you have to plow the main streets first. The reason for keeping the downtown clear is not because men work there, it's because downtown is the centre of business. Good Lord.

Not quite - you'd need to throw the bourgeois, both men and women, under the plows.

Still it's dumb as bricks and they get what they deserve for implementing it.

I hope that clever and deserving people learn to live without that service, and the rest suffer from the collapse, which they so richly deserve. Here is a lesson in objective morality.

Old Economy Steve is every bit as culpable as St. Skittles.

And here is a source with less right wing bias/exaggeration and assumptions:
http://www.thelocal.se/20161112/stockholm-transport-heads-defends-gender-equal-snow-clearing

It would seem women don't drive as much statistically so with that in mind they want to try and make sure to clear routes they more commonly use as well as continuing to plow roadways...they aren't diverting plowing services to to give preference to women over men.

Also it was an unusually large amount of snow that fell, and it sounds like they had trouble clearing all routes...not that they only cleared pathways and left roads unplowed to give women an unfair advantage.

You mean a selfish driver that finds it more convenient, a smart driver would understand its most effective if people from all demographics can get around.

Lol reschedule trips? or just not plow poorer areas because it'll melt anyways and who cares if they're stuck for a week?

What's feminist about claiming that women don't work, and just drive their cars back and forth to the local grocery store? :? It sounds to me like Stockholm made a sexist policy, and then blamed feminists when it failed.
The title should say, "Sexist Road-Clearing Policy Fails".

Why is it sexist for them to want to make sure they focus on clearing pathways and public transportation routes as well as roads, due to women statistically driving less and using other means of transportation? Because it seems like that is actually what the policy entailed.....also the policy didn't cause that catastrophe, the unusually large amount of snowfall is all to blame for that. Whereas the article in the O.P would have you believe they just didn't clear the roads and only cleared pathways, when in reality there was difficulty clearing roads and paths.

A city like Stockholm, when they get 11 inches of snow, should not be held to a standstill. They have enough experience with snow to plow efficiently. 11 inches really isn't all that much.

New Yorkers wouldn't tolerate things coming to a standstill should 11 inches of snow fall.

That may be but it sounds more like bad planning than some evil 'liberal' plot to favor women over men when it comes to plowing. I mean it would seem on that day everyone of all genders were delayed.

I agree. It was probably bad planning.

But still unjustifiable in a place like Stockholm.

What would happen if this state of affairs existed in Denver after 11 inches of snow?

It doesn't matter who does the ploughing, as long as the job gets done. I don't see why something like this would affect snow ploughing.
