Conservatives believe people are better off when they are kicked off of government services.

So, Trump is consistent when he says "everyone will be better off".

So poor people would be better off without enough food to eat, without shelter, and without medical care? Maybe on the Bizarro World.

Since when is government responsible for people's poverty, illness, or injury? I'm not seeing government breaking anyone's legs. Do you know what happened to the poor and disabled before government help? They died.

If the Vox spin on these matters is accurate. This is a legitimate problem to me. As opposed to the Russia nonsense.

Well, the Russian stuff isn't nonsense, but you are correct that all his campaign promises of helping those in need of help was just a means to get elected is in itself scandalous. Especially as he seems interested in shafting the so called "forgotten man," in favor of his rich friends. Then again, considering Trump's record of cheating his employees and contractors out of pay, as well as his cheating on his taxes, this shouldn't be surprising to anyone.

Trump supporters will get concerned if their ox gets gored. All along, he promised to gore the oxen of people they distrust. I hope they soon realize they trusted a conman.

Maybe in retrospect, when all is said and done... years from now.

If Hillary had won millions of people would be talking about how bad of a president she is and how she went back on campaign promises and how bad her agenda is etc. And her supporters would keep insisting how great she is. The truth is none of these people are entirely dependable or trustworthy. Obviously those who have lived through several administrations are aware of that trend.

The conservative perspective is that it's better to kick people off government help and teach them self-reliance ...

There has to be a fish available to catch, or the man won't be eating at all. That's why business has to do their part, and provide work that the man can not only live on, but thrive.

There are also too many people who would rather live an irresponsible lifestyle and scrounge off welfare than go fishing. I see them all over my town and in Seattle. Their main pursuit in life seems to be tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Tweekers everywhere because of so many bleeding hearts sustaining that lifestyle for them.

Then how do you explain the large presence of tweekers in red states? Because they are legion there.

You're saying they're not getting any kind of government assistance in red states?
