Hi all.

I'm making this thread because I made some posts about gun control on this site back in 2011. I'm embarrassed by those posts now because I didn't make myself clear.

This old Cracked article basically sums up everything that I believe.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-5-dumbest-things-we-do-in-name-gun-control_p2/

Summary: The conservatives are right. Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

Of course, if you want to stop people from killing one another, you need to eliminate the social/economic/political conditions which lead people into desperation and paranoia.

It is true that mentally ill people often commit gun massacres. This is a serious problem.
Of course, if you take away the gun then the poor bloke is still in emotional agony because he can't afford psychotherapy.

The genie's been let out of the bottle in the US. A lot of people already have a lot of guns, and you can't really take them away. Canada nipped things in the bud before it became too much of a problem, but even then there's been some difficulties.

That's the way I see it.Even of they were illegal, they would still be around and easy enough to purchase.Heroin is illegal, and yet we have a major problem with that right now.Its just about impossible to keep someone from attaining something they really desire.
I just wonder what has caused the rise in these spree killing, there were plenty of guns around when I was a kid and it was a rare event, now sadly,it's all too common. Why so much violence now??
We definetly need better mental health care,I think it would go along way in preventing some of these senseless attacks.
