The potentially impending war with North Korea

Apparently the government has conceded that North Korea has ICBMs that can hit a major American city and the military is testing the missile shield. I suppose this means that North Korea can hit the mainland U.S., which isn't surprising in the least bit and shouldn't come to a shock to anyone who has kept informed on North Korea over the decades.

it really just seems like the Trump administration is escalating the issue an issue that doesn't need to be escalated. I doubt North Korea would fire the first shot in any conflict because they know it would be a potentially suicidal move, but I can't help but to wonder if Trump is trying to provoke a war in North Korea a a way to cement his power. Nothing unifies a country in it's leadership like a greater enemy. Such is the very tactic North Korea's ruling elite uses to stay in power.

I think it's clear the North Korea is highly unstable and Kim Jong-Un seems like a true madman, hereditary leadership has put a sociopathic spoiled child on the thrown of what is now a nuclear power. China had influence with Kim Jong-Il but no where close with Kim Jong-Un, they are still best suited to take care of this situation. North Korea having weapons could set off an arms race in Asia; South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam could all want their own. China might not be afraid of NK's nukes but they would be the nukes of these other countries, it's a very serious situation without any easy or 'good' options. I do think if force is used to solve this situation it will be very quick and very destructive.

Reminder to Everyone: North Korea is funded by China. China works closely with corporate America. Corporate America doesn't give a damn because they have nuke-proof bunkers.

In other words, the American military has no real reason to prevent a nuclear war with North Korea. The US military is run by people who will easily survive the nuclear holocaust.

Look at things in terms of class antagonism. You will see that North Korea is just another puppet that our corporate overlords have unleashed against us.

Wealthy inbreeders will inherit the Earth when the fallout clears.

I have faith that the masses will rise up before this can happen.

For a long time, the lower classes have suffered from false consciousness. Perhaps the very real threat of nuclear annihilation will be the kick in the ass that we need.

Chronos this is something that has crossed my mind, that Trump might not be the best leader to deal with this.

On the other hand the history of North Korea tell us one thing: They don't like being ignored. They ramp up the aggression when that happens.

Any expert on North Korea will tell you that it is a war state. They need to tell their people their are at war to justify the conditions people live under, and they are in constant conflict with the US. So thins may be a two way issue. They know they can push Trump's buttons more. It is a game of chicken.

The last major nuclear negotiation, with North Korea was essentially an aid extortion racket. So it quite possible an probable the motivation may be financial.

In recent years things have become more volatile. There have been leadership challenges and purges, it is indicative of Stalin's last years, paranoia is rife. Kim Jong Un has tried to show who is boss. I suspect the regime is on its last legs, but I may in the next 10 years.

North Korea is unique. It is not just politics but geography that makes the regime possible. However in the modern world. However China played a role in the regime's survival. I really hope that China steps up the pressure.

The reason he puts one quarter of his nation's GNP into the military -including building nukes is precisely because his country lacks GNP, and is not sustainable as a society. Brandishing nukes is basically just a way to extort foreign aid to keep the nork society from totally collapsing. But he is just buying time.

Inevitably Nork society will collapse. And when it does millions of starving people will flee in the only two directions possible on the peninsula: south into south korea, and north into China. That will saddle both Seoul and Bejing with a humanitarian crises of epic proportions.

So there is common interest between China, and the US (and its allies), to head this off.

My dream solution: China collaborates with Washington and its friends in Seoul and Tokyo in an involved scheme of "non violent decapitation of the Nork regime". Bribe Kim. Buy him off. Tell him that we will give him (not his country, but him personally) a billion dollars, give him immunity from the Hague from any and all human rights violations he may have committed, let him live the rest of his life as a rich playboy in a big mansion on the French Riviera. And in return he turns over the car keys to his country to the UN. And we set up something like the Marshal Plan to run north korea in the interim.

The have a significant cyber crime capability. They stole a 81million form Bangladesh's central bank.

They have slave labour in China and Russia using North Koreans, which brings in a significant amount of income.

I don't believe Kim Jong Un is actually the one in power. I think he is much more of a figure head. Even if he wanted complete power, I think it would be difficult for him to remove anyone in his inner circle. Remove one person from an inner circle and the others get worried. I think Kim Jong Un is a conformist who is answering to someone else, and he is dressing as his grandfather at their behest. I think this is why he was placed "in power", and not his westernized half brother who was recently assassinated.

Yes, North Korea does ask for food aid in the form of threats, and routinely threatens the U.S. to strong and relevant to it's people. They have been doing this since the beginning of their existence and they are empty threats when ignored. But Trump is not ignoring them.

The experts talk about he executed his own uncle, and regular thins out his inner circle with one way trips to the firing range. So it looks to me like its the opposite of what you're saying. He is the absolute ruler, and is paranoid of palace intrigue.

Not that Dennis Rodman is typically the most reputable source for information, however this supposed execution happens shortly before or during his trip to North Korea, and he was very insistent that Jaeng Song-thaek was not executed and that he met him. What motive would Dennis Rodman have to lie about this?

It should be understood that any news out of North Korea's inner happenings is highly suspect. Because North Korea is as isolated as it is, many "news" that supposedly comes out of it, actually comes out of South Korea and is word of mouth which is frequently nothing but rumors, even when purported to be from North Korea's state run news by third parties. In the case of Kim's uncle Jaeng Song-thaek, third party, outside sources said had been executed by being fed to a hungry pack of dogs. It's reported that a North Korean minister of the name Ryoo Kihl-jae stated, when asked if Jaeng had been executed, that Jaeng had been "purged" but was still alive.

A few years later, a former North Korean ambassador Hyun Hak-bong, stated that Jaeng was purged and executed by being short to death, however last year, the dead "Jaeng" supposedly re-emerged and is supposedly alive and well.

The point is, no one actually knows what goes on in North Korea, often times not even North Koreans.

So I'm sorry to say but I think Dennis Rodman is the most reputable source on this matter at the moment.
