As of this writing barring some unforeseen event, Kavanaugh will be confirmed later today. If not it is a whole other thing.

There are two competing theories. The confirmation will anger and energize people leading to more turnout and further guaranteeing the "blue wave". I do not really buy that. How will the confirmation of a nominee to the Supreme Court accused of sexual assault based on a few uncorroborated accusations ramp up the anger and energy any more than a President who bragged about sexual assault and has over 10 people accusing him with some corroboration?

The other ongoing theory is that the Kavanaugh nomination process has literally united the right helping Republicans. I don't buy that either. It is true the nomination has united pro and anti-Trump conservatives pundits in an unprecedented way against a perceived which hunt and the belief that anything any man did at any time will be disqualifying. That does not mean the conservative voters will be as outraged. I might buy into that scenario if he is not confirmed but how much of a martyr can a guy who won really be?

This was not a trail but it was not a job interview either. It was always about the forwarding or stopping the conservative agenda by any means necessary. I think the Republicans have already decided they are going to take a drubbing next month anyway so putting a conservative on that crucial seat was worth the price of an even worse drubbing. The agenda was why in the end Collins and Flake are supporting him. It is why it is most likely if the sexual assault allegations did not happen the vote would have been pretty much the same.

Even the Communist Party is looking better than the GOP.

Senators may have been reviewing the FBI report, but voters have been reviewing the deceit, depravity and hate that it takes to destroy good people that democrats seem to be so at ease with. They lost this round by losing moderates with atrocious antics, slanderous presumption and legal deception.

Poll numbers in the last week are quite clear as the lagging GOP gap for midterms has been halved--with undecideds clearly shifting to the right.

Major backfire.

It matters less than what it will do to us, as autistic people and as disabled people.

Him on the court will make it far easier to strip our rights, as he doesn't think we have any.

I was wrong in predicting that Clinton would be elected because the "fix was in". I will also, it appears, be wrong with Kavanaugh being confirmed. Maybe I'll be wrong on a shift to the right in the midterms too.

The left thinks that the majority of the U.S. on both sides is aghast and horrified that republicans are voting Kavanaugh in. I don't think that's the case. I think republicans and many independents were instead horrified at the democrats' approach to stop the confirmation and I think they'll vote against democrats in the midterms except the majority blue coastal states which will go so far blue they'll be indigo.

There should be no society or planet anywhere that would actually allow a person to accuse someone of something with no corroborating evidence and moreover have all of the accuser's alleged witnesses refute the accuser. Do you all realize how poisonous such a thing would be to an organized free society?? Just think about that for a minute. That was really bad. The facts and reality of the hearing I think freaked a lot of people the hell out.

Yeah, Democrats look like slime balls and that gives ammunition to all the right-wing outlets to pump it on their radio/internet/tv channels.

It seems to have mattered in North Dakota.

Senator Heitkamp was in a close race, now that she's voting "No", she's way behind.

Trust the polls: Heidi Heitkamp is in trouble

It’s the democrats who think we don’t have rights and are dangerous.

It is most of both, that doesn't excuse kavanaugh for having already shown himself to be actively against our rights.

The liberal judges all vote against our rights.

It no longer matters. The fix was in through the entire government from 1960 onward. (And people get mad at me for refusing to vote.). As the old saying goes, it’s not who you know, it’s who you bl!w. Hard work, loyalty and dependability no longer matters. Welcome to the 21st century version of the Roman Empire.

I think the writer is a tad presumptive, but if you take a few minutes to read the article, I think some good points are made.

It's Official: Democrats Are No Longer A National Political Party

THIS IS WHAT AN EX-GOP REPRESENTATIVE HAD TO SAY:

Quote:
“The important part here about the enthusiasm spike among Republicans is that it is among Republicans, it is not among independents,” Jolly said. “Republicans are now more excited but among the independents, you know what they learned today? There is no moderate wing of the Republican Party. That was the message they learned today."

Let me repeat - a LIBERAL did not say this nor did a left-winger or Democrat - a RIGHT-WINGER said this.

That's not true; you may not be happy, to the point of blindness, with Democrats pushing for gun controls, but Republicans dream of a theocracy; a Christian sharia built on the name of "religious freedom".

So aspies don’t deserve freedom of speech, right to bear arms and the right to due process ?

Sorry f**k democrats. They don’t give one s**t abiut aspies.
I’m Christian not atheist, lots of republicans aren’t Christian.
It’s muslims who what sharia law and the democrats support them in the idea of not being racist, even though Islam isn’t a race, muslims aren’t a race.
Democrat party dreams of a totalitarian atheist society.
