Public schooling in America too, is a conveyer belt, designed to produce easily led, minimally functional people, who are no threat to the political class. The mission of public education is to create subservient sheep, unable to have independent or politically incorrect thoughts. Public schools are the least likely place on earth to detect genius. They are set up to "equalize" children.

It makes so much sense now that no one in graduate school was interested in my thoughts that autistic people did not need to be cured and maybe just needed to be valued instead. If you’re trying to put global social engineering into place, you don’t value different thinkers.

I have also been wondering why they keep pushing computer sh*t in schools. I was disturbed to learn that they put a virtual reality headset on my five year old in summer school last week. He came home and said he wants one at home so he can “go to another place”. Great.

I've watched this several times over the years. It's brilliant.

Read Marcuse, Gramsci and Dutschke's works (in particular, read up on the latter's "Long March Through the Institutions") to understand how this works. Peter Hitchens, Theodore Dalrymple and Sir Roger Scruton have analysed their impact masterfully.

The Marxist interpretation of history and the social sciences is the only one taught in state schools today. It was the politician Roy Jenkins, one-time admirer of Ian Brady of all people, who brought this about in the sixties, as well as abolishing grammar schools, the only source of upward mobility for the poor.

I've only been exposed to a few professors who were blatantly Marxist.

Even if somebody tried to ram Marxism down my throat, I would resist with everything at my disposal.

Marxism devalues the individual, totally. The proletariat (most of us) are an amorphous mass who are at the mercy of "historical forces beyond our control," according to Marxism.

Intellectuals worth their salt wouldn't survive under a Marxist system----and they haven't up to now in any meaningful way.

I believe in a sort of "modified" socialism. I would been a "social Democrat" had I been a European.

I, too, consider myself a socialist. There is a common misconception that socialism and Marxism are interchangeable, but this is not so; socialism has its roots in Methodism and the Christian Socialism of Wilberforce, Thomas Carlyle and co. It's only recently that socialism has embraced secular Utopianism and cultural/moral/social nihilism. The Labour Party, in Britain, was profoundly conservative on social issues until at least the seventies. The sense of betrayal on the part of my grandparents' generation, who voted Labour their entire lives believing (for a time rightly) that it represented their interests, is palpable.

We homeschooled our children. We often heard the objection that our children would be deprived of "socialization". I have come to see that what is meant could be called child abuse called social dependency where children in age segregated classrooms come to have an unhealthy dependence on those of their own age and a corresponding deficiency in the ability to interact with those older or younger.

I was homeschooled. It wasn’t ideal. If my brother and I could do it over again, we would both go to school.

There definitely wasn’t enough socialization and the education I received was subpar. One can have a decent education through homeschooling if the parents make a decent enough income, though.

I didn’t have enough opportunities to work on social skills and I missed having close and supportive relationships with teachers which I needed.
