Anyone got any experience of using one or any stories

I'm actually wondering how they actually work

I'm thinking something along the lines of automatic writing

I wouldn't mess with them personally. At best they can screw with your head.

When I was in junior high we once made a video with our English teacher about some girls who play around with a Oujia board at a slumber birthday party, and then two girls get possessed and murder the birthday girl. I was in the video, too. It was one of the few things I enjoyed about being in junior high.

But I really don't believe that a board can actually let you talk to the dead or whatever.

I foolishly messed with an electronic version of a Ouija board, called a "ghost box." I turned it on and set it to working, and within a few minutes of short snippets of gibberish came a stentorian guttural command, "DROP DEAD!!" I immediately turned the GD thing off, took out its batteries and chucked it into a drawer before going outside for some fresh air, whereupon I was greeted with the ugly sight of a particulate black cloudy mass hovering a foot off the ground, that emitted nasty energy, that made me swoon, I looked away briefly and then turned back to face it, whereupon it quickly evaporated.

a lot of people don't realize that the creator of the original OuiJa board, named it for the French and German terms for "yes." IOW it is really a "yes-yes" board.

It's strange how people I know who don't believe in ghosts also object to the use of oiuja boards. I'd like to try one.

I got one for Christmas when I was around 10. Some friends and I were fooling with it and it did move. I know I didn’t do it, the others girls said they didn't either.
But I know Charlotte was a frequent liar.

It's really just a board and wooden planchet (like an oversized wooden guitar pick) with a magnifying glass 'eye' to skim over letters. It's set up like a Youtube or Netflix search menu and you have someone sit down with you and you move it together.

I don't know if it's just me but if you try moving it by yourself? Nothing, you'll consider anything that happens your own thinking. Adding another person? That adds some ambiguity and I think that's where things can start to run.

I had fun with it with my childhood friends.
It doesn't had to be fancy. It can be something like makeshift, everything is made of sheet of paper.
And since we were just kids with little to no aptitude with the whole thing, it doesn't truly work.

Most of the fun is the suspense around it.
One tiny move regardless of source, everyone would be teasing it off from it.

I hadn't done the real thing.
Nor the real deal happened for me yet.
As for other accounts, they tend not recommend to mess with it.
Beliefs around the whole thing here is relatively still strong and tend to have many other ways to interact with the dead; an ouija board isn't usually the first option people here to go for.

I think there was about 6 of us and we was in someone's garage. I mean it was such a long time ago. We were only about 10 or 11

We all legged it when the thing moved and no one ever admitted to moving it either. I certainly didn't move it, I know that for certain

It spelt out JOD

We thought it was God

Sounds like a similar story to me except mine was made of paper
