According to Bernie Sanders - one America for billionaires. and one for the rest

But to me there are four Americas
1. Billionaires
2. white America
3. Petit bourgeoisies or model minorities (insert group)
4. the rest

Think technically y,ou are right, if you wish, it could be broken down further maybe?
Think Beenie was trying to maybe overly simplify the concept . For the ikdeals the masses may get behind in order to NOT have this country , *"deteriorate" much further down the path Trump is creating.. regardless of any improvehments made , it is a Master / Servant class . Made popular by kings and nobles from the medievel times.
It seems. but jwithout any redeeming qualities. . :(

I love Bernie, but I don't think that we've quite reached the extremes of 18th century France.

We may be headed in that direction. I hope not.

If I was American in 2016 I would have picked Bernie > Hillary. But the point is now moot.
I still listen to what he says. I agree, from a purely socioeconomic lens he's right. wealth is being concentrated in the hands of few influential individuals who covertly influence how the world is run.

And whatever their cosplay, US magnates, Russian oligarchs, Chinese tycoons, African despots or Oil Sheikhs, their long term plans involve controlling wealth/resources and squeezing labour to extract maximum return. that is literally the definition of capitalist economics, ultimately in the cycle of government, as the illusion of equality gives way to people asking for strong arm leaders on the right we are returning to an age of neo-feudalism.

But in the case of America he typically (and this includes most Democrats, Libertarians or Republicans) overlooks and downplays culture in dividing America.

Yes, they are called North America and South America.

1917 Russia or 1959 Cuba may be needed when all is said and done.

There are two 'Americas' who both think only their side is right about everything and that the other side just needs to die.

He's an amazing person. I will miss him when he eventually passes.

He has a large group of high-profile people set to carry on his legacy. AOC and Zohran Mamdani are the two most well-known.

I have a lot of concern over AOC and Zohran appealing to broader Americans (Like Kamala or Vivek had credibility issues).
Hopefully somebody will emerge from the democrat younger ranks who can have the integrity and wisdom of Bernie with the charisma and youth of Obama.

Indeed. I'm a fan of those two, also. It's a shame that the rules prevent Zohran from ever becoming president. If I were in the states I would also worry that aren't enough progressives registered as Democrats to win the presidential nomination. Sanders seemed to struggle in 2020. I just checked realclearpolling and it seems my fears are justified: https://www.realclearpolling.com/latest-polls/2028

Well, those didn't really work out so well. Russia has stopped pretending to be anything other than a kleptocracy.

If he becomes mayor, that will be weird. It will be terrible for New Yorkers, but it will be a huge benefit to the rest of the country will who will learn to not vote for communists.

New Yorker here.

The only way it will be "terrible for [most] New Yorkers" will be if Trump decides to withhold already-allocated federal funds. That will be Trump's fault, not Zohran's.

The last time we had a strongly left-leaning mayor, DeBlasio, wasn't "terrible for New Yorkers" either, despite endless bleating in the right wing press about how horrible he supposedly was.

While DeBlasio was very progressive, Mamdani takes it to a whole other level.

Mamdani is a much more skilled politician than DeBlasio.

All of New York City Powers are granted by the New York State constitution. All New York City Laws are superseded by New York State’s laws. The Governor has the power to suspend or remove New York City’s mayor. I can see a situation where Eliane Stefanic defeats the incumbent Kathy Hochel and removes Mamdani. It would be unprecedented, there would be a lot of yelling and screaming about fascism and it will be legal. MAGA’s revel in norm breaking.
