Those of us who live in what was once the British Empire have inherited a lovely little 'celebration' called 'Guy Falkes Day'.

It is the celebration of the public burning to death of a 'terrorist' who failed to actually kill anyone or change anything.

Is continuing such a tradition as the symbolic burning of a 'guy' barbaric?

Yeah, yeah, I know the fireworks are fun/exciting/pretty.

No, it's cathartic. We can pretend it's Gordon Brown or one of the other leftist crackpots who currently rule over us.

No, just an irritating one. Not for the sentiment behind it, just the noise it creates.
