As I was reading through the GRE Pool of Issue Topics, I thought this one would be interesting to post here as it seems to be relevant to current politics. What do you think?

"Sometimes imagination is a more valuable asset than experience. People who lack experience are free to imagine what is possible and thus can approach a task without constraints of established habits and attitudes."

And that's why children realize things adults cannot. Because they have imagination, and less of experience.

It can work like that quite well, espcially in a situation that calls for a clear cut solution.

However, a lot of the time you need basic building blocks of information to have already sunk into your thought processes before you can really understand the situation around you, espcially in a field were results are not immediately apparant. That makes experience a neccessity for such situations, though imagination can still be a useful addition.

In other words, you need both. When what you are using from experience stops working, try using imagination.

This is actually the perfect argument to use against the people who say you have no experience and are too young to understand anything. There are things you can realize without experience.

I was thinking of this topic in terms of the difference people see between Clinton and Obama. I think Clinton doesn't have that much more experience than Obama, but I think that Obama has more imagination than Clinton, which actually makes him the better candidate in my view.

Same could be said for Howard and Rudd. Howard's lot were talking about all their experience, and how with Rudd's lack of experience he could therefore not run the country. Well, Rudd won the election in a landslide, which prove his imagination was far better than Howard's experience.
