Today a stray cat ended up at my house, caught on my dog's pen..... At first Brutus (my dog) was about to attack the cat but I saved her... This cat, is very mal-nourished, starved, her ribs are poking out.... But, she is a very very loving cat... And it breaks my heart to see her this way..... I actually cried, I don't usually ever cry, it's very rare that I do.
I called ASPCA, but they've been bullshitting all day long, and they keep saying "we're sending someone out there shortly", then 2 or 3 hours go by, nothing.... So after about 4 times throughout the day they still haven't came, still haven't called, nothing (I keep having to call them)....
I just know if this poor cat doesn't survive, it's gonna destroy me...... Someone neglected this cat, someone abandoned her. And she deserves better, she deserves a nice home with a family who will love her and take care of her. I just hope I can save her (hopefully those goddamned rescue vets will stop bullshitting and get the hell over here).
I'm thinking about doing volunteer work at the local animal rescue center. Even if I can't save this one animal then maybe I can save others. If anyone is interested I'll keep you posted on the cat's health.

The ASPCA is stretched fairly thin due to so many people neglecting and/or abusing pets. It's a very sad but true state of events, to be honest...

You could take the cat into your home and love it, as your own, and take it to the vet for any shots that it might require. If you do take him in, you might also want to work on getting your dog used to having a cat in the family.

We have a dog though, in fact we have 2 dogs and they won't warm up to a cat at this stage in their lives. Besides, we're doing all we can to keep up 2 vet bills for our dogs, we really can't afford another one.

That's just tasteless.

Update, we just got in contact with an animal rehabilitation shelter, the lady came and picked the cat up. It's not a 100% complete no kill shelter, but it is humane. In other words, if they can save the cat, they will, they only put it to sleep if they can't save it, and even then they do it humanely so she won't have to suffer.
I think the chances of the cat being rehabilitated are pretty good. My brother has a friend who he works with who keeps a lot of animals, she'll keep the cat if and when it is rehabilitated. Right now the shelter lady just left with the cat, we're sanitizing the house now....

i don't think there is such a thing as a 100% no kill shelter. even PETA with all their psychotic nuttiness still euthanizes animals.
