First off, even if you have nothing else to say, can you please chirp up with a "I'm here" and perhaps your affiliation (orthodox, lubavich, reform, ect)? Second, does anyone else here have a problem with Davening? I really hate being stuffed in a room with a bunch of other people and saying the same words over and over. I don't feel any connection to god in that room, I need to be out in His nature.
P.S. I'm an orthodox Jew.

Oh same. Except for potato Kugel. And matza balls. And rugelach. Buy some vanilla rugelach if you can! And yes, you are Jewish

wow, so it is true! I've been hoping so, maybe I could get an Israeli passport on that basis and add it to my ever growing collection :p
and yeah, some of the food was actually edible, although from what I remember it was all kind of sweet and salty at the same time, and I hate weird mixes like that... vanilla thingy sounds nice though, I guess it can't be bad if it has vanilla in it... will check it out!

Israel seems to define Jewishness as a genetic characteristic derived from female parentage and on that basis I am fully Jewish but I despise all religion as being nonsense and the hubrism of being one of "the chosen people" disgusts me. And Israel's violent aggressive approach to solving its problems with the people in its area horrifies me. If that makes me Jewish, so be it. Food is food and some is tasty and some not. I cannot see it as ethnic.

Okay, maybe I should define Jewish. If Your mother is jewish you are jewish. If her mother is jewish, you are jewish, ad infinitum. If you've converted, you are also Jewish.

I was raised Jewish by Jewish parents but I do not identify with Judaism or Zionism, nor do I identify with Christianity or Islam. If I have to describe my belief system I'd call myself a "Pantheistic Pagan". To each his own though.
I'd like to add also that I've noticed there are many Jewish aspies and Asperger syndrome seems to be quite more common by percentage in Jews than gentiles. I'm not sure why that is however since Jews are a religious group and NOT a race. Even though Ashkanazic Jews share similar physical features and many Sephardic Jews share similar physical features. I have the stereotypical "Jewish nose" that looks somewhat like a number 6.

well, although jews aren't a race, they are only allowed to marry other jews (according to jewish law). So that's probably why there are 'jewish traits'. Also, the jewish lifestyle may contribute to Aspergers. I know I feel that being Jewish has aggravated some aspie traits.

That's your perspective on who is a Jew and who is not a Jew. I believe it's also the traditional view.
How do you feel about the group 'Jews for Jesus'?

When I meet up with a Jeez for Jusis I gnash my teeth and rend my garments. I am not well disposed toward these charlatans.
