They have acted like IDIOTS and MORONS, and have SQUANDERED our money on NONSENSE, so maybe it WILL go to SSI people. After all, they helped out the FILTHY RICH! They are ALREADY talking about further DESTROYING the middle class. The ONLY thing they haven't done yet, that I know of, is bribe the VERY VERY POOR on a wholesale basis.

What they SHOULD have done is tell the aliens..."The JIG is UP! It is CLEAR we don't need you, GET LOST!"! They should then have Increased import duties. TO HELL with GATT and NAFTA, they were bad and uncostitutional measures! They should have LOWERED payroll taxes. They should have BANNED a lot of the UNION garbage! They should ENFORCE the various laws against "gifts"! The result? LOWER costs for EVERYTHING, INCLUDING HEALTHCARE! MORE RESOURCES for EVERYTHING, INCLUDING HEALTHCARE! LESS UNEMPLOYMENT! A bigger tax base, so they may get MORE taxes at the lower rate. And that is without spending a PENNY!! !! !! !!

That would HELP the lower and middle class, discourage squandering by the upper class, etc....

What DID they do? What do they plan? They BOUGHT STOCK(claiming it works like bonds and loans, though it DOESN'T, and NEVER HAS!! !! !)! They loaned money to people that CLEARLY SQUANDER it! They make NOTHING from imports! They plan to INCREASE payroll taxes!(That means wages will be cut, or people will be LAID OFF!! !! !!) They are raising taxes on energy, etc.... And this has currently cost about 2 TRILLION or so!

This has HURT the middle class, and even some of the upper class! By raising costs, increasing need, and decreasing resources, it has ALSO hurt the lower class!

BTW Obama acts like wallstreet has NOTHING to do with mainstreet! What would happen to the U.S, or the WORLD, if almost every substantial company associated with the US, retired peoples money, college funds, and banks ceased to be? WHAT!?!?!? Don't you think that might throw us into almost having to fend for ourselves? IMAGINE! EVERYONE would be almost as bad off as the poorest people. And I mean ****NO**** SSI! Somehow, I think that wallstreet IS connected with mainstreet. Don't think my scenario is likely? LOOK AROUND! Companies are going out of business ALL AROUND! Look at the pictures of the 1929 to 1933 era! Banks FAILED(REMEMBER, clinton removed EVERY law protecting them!)! People lost everything! People jumped out of windows.

Hey, I have more money in the bank now than I EVER had in my life! I could struggle and live maybe 2+ years just on THAT CASH(NONE of THAT money is in stocks or bonds, etc...), at near my current level. I SHOULD feel comfortable, but I DON'T! NOTHING close to it! I don't even know if even a million dollars will be worth a PENNY tomorrow.

By doing what they do, which is IMPOSSIBLE(NO MONEY), they have to then INCREASE taxes on the UPPER CLASS which is IMPOSSIBLE(NOT REALLY ENOUGH MONEY, and it will LEAD TO LAYOFFS), they THEN have to INCREASE taxes on the MIDDLE CLASS which is IMPOSSIBLE(NOT ENOUGH MONEY, and it will HURT BUSINESS), they THEN have to SELL BONDS which is IMPOSSIBLE(NOBODY TO BUY, and they CAN'T HONOR THE DEBT), so they THEN need jerks, like hillary clinton, to embarass the US and PLEAD for CHINA to BUY THE DEBT! You really have to wonder if they aren't real life Manchurian Candidates!

Please desist from an overabundance of CAPITALS, thank you.

Barak Obams is the Nigerian candidate, not the Manchurian Candidate. The desciple of Saul Ailinsky, the left wing pinko stinko commie radical will destroy the economy given the chance. He and his Democrat buddies are currently looting the treasury to give the goods to their buddies, cronies and Comrades.

Printing money does not cure an economy. Encouraging it to produce goods and services does.

Not at all. Bush and is buddies were no better. The Republicans of fiscal responsibility and restraint died with Robert Taft of Ohio and Barry Goldwater of Arizona many years ago. The Republican have tried to be better New Dealers than the New Dealers. I considered the vice-President as the prince of insufficient light and Dumb Donnie Rumsfeld a military disaster of the first order.

Both the major parties are Stateist. They believe that the government should be the major planner and energizer for the society. Governments out to exist to keep the peace, not to tell us how to live.

I do not miss the inane Bush Administration one bit. Unfortunately we got in its place something that will get us to ruination quicker.

And all those produced goods and services that nobody has any money to purchase - how does that work?

They will be sold at Wal-Mart or on E-bay for pennies on the dollar. Nothing really goes to waste. What does not get used, gets recycled. You are too young to know about war-surplus. After WW2 ended, millions of tons of surplus militaryh goods were given away or sold for pennies on the dollar. Nothing went to waste.

Unsold cars will be seized in bankruptcy and sold for very low prices. Ditto for homes taken in foreclosure. Nothing goes to waste.

Gobs of obsolescent computer equipment can be bought for pennies an nickles. Old books sell for pennies. Check it out on www.abebooks.com. Old industrial equipment is melted down and made into new industrial equipment. Over 60 percent of our steel does not come from new iron ore. It comes from processed scrap. Aluminum cans are made from aluminum cans. And new glass is made from old glass. Nothing goes to waste.

You assume something produced will be (or ought to be) bought immediately. Not so. Some stuff takes time to move and a price reduction to clear the market. You have bought into some Marxist bullsh*t and have not studied the facts.

Since I'm eleven years older than you, if that's your standard of judgment, like most of your other opinions you have no idea what you're talking about.

I have forgotten more than you ever knew. Your grasp of history is pitiful.

You will notice that the capitalistic system to the extent it has been operated in the U.S. (as a mixed economy) has never collapsed. Not once. The markets get cleared one way or another. If not bought for pennies on the dollar, than recycled and remade into New Stuff.

On the other hand the one Marxist system left in the world, North Korea lives on the edge of starvation. Have you ever wondered why. With all that wonderful communism making sure everything that the Workers and Farmers produce is sold for Use and Not Profit, why are they so bad off? Hmm? Hmmm?

Even in the Soviet Union, Lenin had to restore some capitalistic action with the New Economic Policy (1924) to keep his accursed revolution from collapsing.

This is quite amusing. I was just browsing another thread, thinking that there were too many kids posting here these days, then next thread I look at, there are two geriatrics arguing like teenagers.

Is it just me or has there never been a Marxist state, let alone an actual Communist state? I mean, neither systems were constructed with a dictatorship in mind and neither system is compatible with a ruling class of elite.

Just my 2 yen.

You can't even consider most existing "communist" regimes as such, since in theory they are most often not even applying the principles, right? :p so i rather call them soviet communism (at least it makes a clear distinction).

Okay , here's my two cents on this whole mess.
To be honest, i can tell you the one thing that started this. Unregulated capitalism. Put simply, humans are inherently selfish, the bankers saw a way to make a quick buck with the whole subprime morgage deal , and they took it, now it's come to bite them in the arse, and the real estate magnates crashed.

Now, where the REAL damage is being done, is the same as it is EVERY time the economy crashes: Panic.
People are scared, they're stashing their money because they're afraid that things are going to get worse, and by doing so, they're MAKING it worse. It's what caused the great depression , and it's what's going to make things worse now.

Now, onto everyone bashing obama. Yes, the stimlus bill will probably do more harm than good. BUT, it was NOT his pet project like people seem to think. You don't think we'd have had this if mccain had taken office? Bush started this trend of bailing out failing enterprises. If we'd have had mccain, the only difference is the pork in the bill would be republican-flavored instead of democratic.

That said, what we REALLY need to do is start rebuilding our infrastructure, which we have moronically sent overseas in the last 2 decades, and start investing ourselves in the alternative energy industry to reduce our dependance on oil. This means putting a lot of cash into new power plants, and looking into a new way to power cars. Hybrids are a good stopgap, but they're NOT the solution.

Lastly, someone needs to tell the media to SHUT THEIR DAMN MOUTHS. As i panic is the enemy right now , and everywhere i look, EVERY media outlet, liberal or conservative, is bashing the stimulus plan. I agree that it's not the best idea, and i support the media's right to be critical of the government, but for crying out loud, can't they say anything CONSTRUCTIVE for once?
By continuing to undermine ALL of the govenrments actions on dealing with this , they're making people nervous, and thus, making the situation WORSE.
FDR was right, the only thing we have to fear right now, is fear itself.

...ok, while that was substantialy more than two cents, i think i got my point across.

I suspect medias to feed us depressing news in order to make us more easily manipulated because of depressive thoughts, which in turn leads to an early death, which redistributes your wealth among the living. ~.~ (and yes, i thought it through!)
