They say one of the abnormalities in autism is a dysfunction of the Mirror Neuron System. It seems to be crucial to learning behaviors and performing automatic empathetical responses (ie, laughing at a joke with others despite not knowing the punchline, being sad/hysterical during a crisis perhaps).

They- they being the internets- also say that the so-called "violet children" are able to "transmute dark energies back to light". The calm, love-radiating Christ types of many popular mythologies all seem to speak of somebody who doesn't do a lot of talking, save for narrative-performances similar to a babbling Aspie. The person is always a fiercely independent, thoughtful person. Lacking the science of today, it's easy to imagine such a person coming up with fantastic (and highly plausible at the time) stories and telling them to people. One who also had a fully conscious grip of their affective displays of emotion (as opposed to the natural/automatic way of NT's) would be stoic and calm, but diplomatic, and assertive over certain issues.

In short, certain individuals of that time who fit qualifications for HFA could have been the ancient progenitors of priests and politicians. That's the logical way to look at it.

A much more silly (but soooooo cooler) idea posits that a soon-to-come transformation of human existence is being catalyzed by the implanted souls of aliens/angels/beings from another place/existence to fill this role in humans born recently, which would explain the rise of autism lately. Still, that's pure fantasy compared to the idea I just pulled out of my ass up there.

Many religious people talk to god every day and are rather normal. It's when He answers that problems arise.

It wouldn't be glorious to know that past 'prophets' were aspies - would be a bit depressing. But whatever you think about it, I assume that the charisma needed to create a large following requires being able to read faces, among many other traits.

I always thought of Jesus having aspie-like traits. He was obsessed with getting his message of so-called salvation across. Spent days alone in the wilderness hungry...perhaps a major reason for why he thought god was talking to him and why he "saw" things.

Also, he was still a virgin at the ripe age of 32...

Particularly when two listeners hear a different message.

Let me expand on the "performer" idea of Asperger's. Paradoxically, the impaired ability to read nonverbal language is, if not a boon to performing, at least inconsequential. When speaking to a crowd, minute facial expressions aren't jack. General crowd-wide oohs, aahs, clapping, etc., are much simpler and easier to read; it might even be easier for Aspie's.

Look at the thread on Aspie comedians. I would not be surprised in the least if Asperger's traits were more prevalent amongst comedians, per capita, than in the rest of the population. Same with priests and politicians, for whom rambling about their obsession is second-nature.

Now, the one caveat here is that one of the obsessions of said Aspie would have to be diplomacy, including conscious regulation of their own facial expressions. Still, it's clear that a detached, analytical style fits quite well with the Machiavellian types of behavior that get you ahead in most of these areas.

I've heard he had multiple kids before he died at age 33.
And ya, keep theosophically masterbating. I've had similar thoughts, but I don't think aspies generally come across as being as cool as the "strong silent type".
