"Anything" can be a terrorist device. Judging from the last five plus years after 911, and judging from the years before, the likelihood that something is a terrorist device, especially an object that is meant to be seen and looks like a sign, that likelihood is extremely small, and well within acceptable limits. The only person who would see any trouble is the person who is looking for trouble. People who look for trouble have to be kept in check or they will find and make trouble.

Ted Turner now is negotiating with Mayor Menino
over the amount to be paid for all the glorious response
teams who http://www.komotv.com/news/5439061.html
gathered up the lite-brite peg boards that in our edgy Bean*town
were all then blewn up by our local bomb-squad people...

Turner should not give one thin dime to Boston over that stupidity and he should demand an apology from the mayor for arresting the people who put up the signs and for charging them with terrorism.

I'm told that Discordians are shedding tears of joy over this :P

I was too the moment I saw that clip where they talked about hair on a serious news channel. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

"I'm sorry, that's not a hair question."

I just hope they don't deport the guy from Belarus. He does fit the stereotype of the bomb-throwing anarchist, with his white-boy dreadlocks.

My opinion exactly.

What's scary is that apparently these devices were in several other cities for several days (or weeks) an NOBODY noticed.

Homeland Security here is a bunch of F***tards. For example, someone saw a homeless guy spill mercury in the LA subway - people called 911 immediately as it was happenning, and it took HOURS to respond. In that case, it didn't appear to be a case of domestic terrorism, but the point is that there was a painfully slow response to a spill of a substance that is KNOWN TO BE TOXIC.

We're no safer here than we were on 9/10/01 - it's disgusting really.

9 out of 10 cities agree that Light Brights do NOT look like bombs.

I am on an [adult swim] board, and everyone is still talking about it.

Here is my solution:

Make an ATHF episode where the Mooninites (one of whom was featured on the infamous billboard) manipulate Mayor Menino, like they do everyone else.

Then have a sub-plot where they get corporate endorsements from huge chain stores, and then build tons of chain stores in neighboring Vermont.

The only time i watch Adult Swim is during their Saturday night anime showcase, but i have to side with them over this. How could someone be so ret*d that they couldn't tell the difference between a ticking time bomb and a brite-lite board with a well-known cartoon character on it? It blows my mind...

This brings to me a song i heard last night over the waves (102.7 FM waves, to be exact), I'm not sure who the artist was, but the refrain starts a little like this:

"PARANOIA WILL DESTROY YA..."

I heard it was just a slow news day.

I remember reading something the other day about how one of the execs at Adult Swim was fired over this incident. As a society why do we always have to find a scapegoat to crucify whenever there is an honest mistake caused by miscommunication between many people?

Because a scapegoat is almost as welcome (or even more welcome) than a solution---or admitting that everyone over reacted and made fools out of themselves.

He should sue. This is not the kind of nonsense that should be allowed to lie.
