Poverty is simply defined as "low income".

So, someone with 10 million dollars in assets can be "in poverty".

In the US, "in 2005, 63.7% of those living in poverty had cable or satellite television".

I live below the poverty level and have satellite tv,only becuse I called then to turn it off becuse I couldn't afford it.They gave me a deal where I only pay 29$ a month for it.Otherwise I was cancelling it.Some of the low income housing has cable, they get a big discount on it.
As for poverty, with the low temps we had I know of several people who's water pipes burst. They have no water now becuse they can't afford to repair it.
You've never been here, you have no idea.
Check out some of the YouTube videos on Pine Bluff Ar,yeah we're just rolling in the dough.

Give it time.
There's a reason we have so many illegals from Mexico here...

About Haiti (for example)... They shot themselves in the foot more than a few times. They would have done better as a territory of France. Look at Barbados (still with the queen as a head of state) and it's one of the least poor island nations with good schools, a national healthcare system and better quality of life. Haiti needs help from the outside and has needed it for a LONG time.

Before you call anyplace a "s**thole" you should actually go there ,see for yourself, visit the locals.People from other states call my state a "s**thole",yet they have never set foot here.So how do they know?

Nigeria was specifically mentioned as a "s**thole" country.

There are immense expanses of natural beauty in Nigeria---even though it's the most crowded country in Africa.

There are parts of the country of Guinea which are positively sublime.

Most of the people in those "s**thole" countries are know for their hospitality. They will feed you even if it takes the last bit of money they have.

People in "s**thole" countries also, usually, have a lot of dignity about themselves.

I know....because I've been to some of those countries.
