I feel in some ways PETA is the worst thing that has ever happened to animals, like they don't even care about the animals, they care about the tabloidy attention they get. Like hey maybe instead of trying to be cheeky and get news articles made of you what if you actually put all that money to actually helping animals. But maybe they gotta keep their euthanasia facilites up and running...since that is what they do with most animals they 'rescue'.
They are going about the issue of animal rights the wrong way. People are never going to give up meat or dairy products.
They need to take the angle of humane treatment of domestic animals and then let people decide for themselves about the connection between somebody else killing an animal and the meat they eat.
The issue of pets is even harder. The level of mental illness/poor mental health would go through the roof if you took away people's right to own a pet.
The least controversial is moving to animal-free products but how do we substitute animal testing for drugs/medicine?
Idk I pay a lot of attention to animal issues, and well an impression I get is it might become necessary for humans and animals to co-exist. Like there are problems with elephant vs human conflicts in africa, and well probably the best way forward is to find a way to co-exist with the elephants because they can be very gentle empathetic creatures but if they feel attacked or threatened well an angry elephant is not something anyone wants to see face to face I am sure. But like some of what I have seen suggests elepants may just remember a specific paths and so it makes them uneasy when people try to stop them going the way they know to go. It could be possible to allow the elephants through without attacking them and maybe they would just move on. But when people attack them they of course get aggressive and they are gigantic so for sure can do a lot of damage and be horrifying, but if you really think about it the elephants are just trying to defend themselves and their way of life.
