Firstly, McDonalds is gross, secondly, I suffer from severe lactose intolerance and I wouldn't even consider eating anything without a clear ingredient list. Why didn't they ask the manager what went into the food? I always check lables for suitability!

This is totally unrelated Jellybean but. Do you think Dr. House is Aspergers? I like to think he is cause he's a great role model.

I am someone who has a DRASTIC reaction if i eat any form of dairy or dairy protein, along with about 10 other major foods/ingredients. If i ere to eat the frys i would be sick, have anxiety attacks, and have mental trouble for about 3 days to a week. I understand why this person was mad that the frys and whatever else they ordered had "Hidden" ingredients. That being said, I take full responsibility for my own health, and dont expect others to. I know its a gamble eating out, I know what foods are likely to have ingredients I have a reaction too, and I just dont eat it again if i get sick. You cant expect others to understand every possible food allergy or reaction and all the ingredients in all the food. Do the reaserch yourself, or gamble and accept the concequences.

Exactly, it's like personal responsibility is non-exsistant now. It was the fault of McDonald's for not coming over to the mother, handing her a ingredient information list, like she was a helpless toddler. Please.

Seems to me allergies are trial and error. You don't know you have one until you negatively react to something.

Slightly off topic, but I agree about allergies being trial and error. I recently purchased a liquid calcium/magnesium product. Although it claimed to be wheat and dairy free, something was really messing with my intestines. I wrote the manufacturer, and they informed me that magnesium has a laxative effect. I was like, duh! I should have remembered Milk of Magnesia. I was so busy checking for known allergens, that I never thought something else might be causing the trouble.

My son is GFCF (by choice) and when friends go to McD's he goes with them. He always asks about ingredients. Prior to this case we were always told (by a McDonalds employee) that the fries contained no glutien or dairy. Many many places season their fries - most fries are not just potatos and oil. So my son always asks. The troubling thing about this case was McD's origional attitude was that if you have been eating the fries all along and they didn't cause any problems then what difference does it make. In the case of celiacs damage can be cumulative. Kind of like being diabetic. One person saying they gave you a diet cola when they didn't may have a small effect or a huge one depending where you are with your sugar levels at the time. The fries likely aren't going to kill anyone, but if you are trying to keep track of that sort of thing, and the manager of a restaurant says one thing, the truth shouldn't be the opposite. FWIW major allergens have to be listed on foods now. I was angry about the McDonald's thing not because my son's autism could have been effected, but because they lied about what they were feeding you. If you tell me I'm paying for plain french fries then thats what I want. It's like a store selling you a silk shirt when really its polyester.

People are sue happy. I won't argue. But big industry seems to think they are above the law. And that is just as unsettling.

What a load of bull. McDonald's doesn't cause Autism, and it tastes great.

Just because something tastes great, doesn't mean that it can't harm you, IMO.

This is immaterial to the case, they are claiming the information was different in 2006. I would have no idea.

They've apparently changed us/en site after being charged, but I checked their dutch site when this article came up and that one still lists them as safe for gluten and milk allergies.

Maybe they didn't because they checked the info McDonalds gave and frankly, I wouldn't expect any manager to know exactly what goes in the stuff he sells, or even to know what gluten are.
