On a related note, how long was Freund around? Did people know him well enough to know that his rants were not about trolling?

There are only two people I see here regularly that may/will know more about him than many of us, and they're Alex and CockneyRebel. Other than that, I can't think of anyone else.

Let me elaborate on my original question....

Cockney and Alex are the only people I know of who would have probably known (or known of) the guy. Actually, I read some of the older threads from around Halloween 2005, and Alex is asking some other WP members who this guy was, because apparently Alex never really got to know him. BUT, there were some other threads where people who did talk to him (and I don't know if any are still around - I didn't recognize the user names) said that they had tried to track him down with no success. Since they had talked to him, the had actually gotten worried about some of his posts, which have apparently been deleted since that time.

When I asked my original question about trolling, what I meant was that I was wondering if people knew him well enough to know that he wasn't some random weirdo who set up an account here just to get people worked up. For instance, the person who created AspieDanny is an NT who likes to get all whiney just to see how we aspies react to an apparently emotional aspie teenager who is having social problems. I know that AspieDanny is a sockpuppet created for the sole purpose of trolling. On the other hand, I have read enough of your posts, as well as OWA, Cockney, Catalyst, Gamester, Tinky, Alex, etc. that I think that if your posts started getting more disjointed and more suicide oriented I would probably worry about you. Which is not to say that I want to call the cops for anyone who seems down - in fact, I would hope that people feel safe saying things on this site that they don't feel like saying elsewhere. However, if you were to start going on and on about the details of how you are in the process of obtaining guns or ammo, I might PM Alex or one of the mods or possibly try to do some detective work to talk to you about it.

Also, the odd thing about Freund is that he apparently posted his plans in another online community as well. Supposedly he was even more specific there. I have no idea if they are being sued or not - no one seems to know the answer to that. So, if you, for example, were to go to the Haven and just talk about how you wish you were dead, I might talk to you via WP about it, probably wouldn't try to track you down to talk to you about it. I wouldn't know if you were posting more explicite plans elsewhere - you could be, but I wouldn't know about it. But if AspieDanny were to post something like that and be explicite about it, I would probably just ignore him because I know he is a fraud.

That's a good point there. It's nice to know that there are others who would get concerned for me (kinda goes against AS rules, actually! :lol:
