And yeah museums will be targeted also.

Slightly skewed comparison...The Nazis burned material with any intellectual content. Nobody is going to cry if some redneck southern rock band can't use pro-slavery imagery.

Many of the controversial statues are in courthouse lawns and public parks.
No way to avoid then if you work in one of these places, have business or want to picnic.
If I was Black I wouldn't want to picnic under one of these,or have to look at it everyday I went to work.

I honestly don't understand the hysteria, these statues could have been placed in a museum where they belong

I actually don't care whether people take down Confederate statues or not. Provided, however, that they do not touch my famous and heroic cousin, the great General Jubilation T. Cornpone -- may he live in our memory forever!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but he's been gone awhile. He tumped over about twenty years ago, with his mount's nose in the dirt and had growing weeds all around him.

Those Antifa devils have been undermining American civilization for longer than we thought!

I heard they raped Daisy Mae and Lil'Abner after they pushed the General over. And all along we blamed the Yankees for it.

Little known fact: John Wilkes Booth was the actual founder of Antifa.

Why would a Confederate sympathiser create Antifa? That literally makes no sense.

That "redneck" band was a big help in getting Jimmy Carter elected. I did not predict their symbols could not be used. I predicted emboldened people will try and may succeed in banning them. You really underestimate how popular they are here. People until this whole brouhaha started mostly ignored the monuments. Skynard's music is still often played.

Burning books or banning music is censoring thought. It is a bad thing to censor thought no matter where it comes from or how nonintellectual you and I think it is.

The Nazi's started small and got bigger as they were emboldened by success.

And the big-time media wonders why people think they're idiots.

The official Reuters Top News twitter feed says Asian-American sportscaster is "doppelganger" of 19th-century Confederate general. They certainly look alike to me:

Maybe we can set up a GoFundMe to buy the professional journalists at Reuters a desk dictionary. :D

You did say you i) you don't care if people think you are a troll and ii) enjoy having the label which taken in combination suggest you don't mind the label (which is what I was saying)

Not the same as an admission. Take into consideration some of the people that have given me that label.

That aside, trolls aren't responsible for anything. If someone allows a troll to have that kind of influence on them it doesn't say much for their strength or character.

They contribute, I don't think anybody disputes that

BS at work contributes, rush hour traffic contributes, home life contributes, etc. These are in your face every day contributing factors that you can't ignore. An internet troll is something that can easily be ignored or just not taken seriously. I spar with trolls, i joke with trolls, and/or I ignore trolls. What I don't do is let trolls run me up a tree.

Think someone is a troll or a cyberbully? Easy, just don't read their posts. That's right, just skip over them. If you're so neurotic that you just HAVE to read what they write in case they might be talking about you then maybe it's time to cowboy up a little and get a life off-line.

You and I might be able to "shrug it off" but not everybody can

It aint hard, but for those that it is they are probably mental institution bound sooner or later even without trolls.

So basically, what you seem to be saying is,
if you are offended by a statue,
don't look at it?

My, what a concept ...

Wouldn't it be nice if conservatives took this attitude and applied it to gangsta rap?

Don't like it? Don't listen to it! What a concept!

And guess what?
I don't listen to it.

Remember the nineties? Back then, the conservatives were trying to ban gangsta rap, violent video games, heavy metal music, D&D, Magic: the Gathering, Harry Potter and everything else that they considered "Satanic".

"WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN??? CHILDREN ARE GOING TO SHOOT UP THEIR SCHOOLS AND THEN BURN IN HELL!! !"

Has the right moved beyond that crap?

If so, that's nice ... but I won't let you forget about your ugly past.

Banning things is not my forte. However, if you think anything I've done is ugly I'll welcome you to remind me of it all you want. Hell, I might just admit to having done some very ugly things that I actually havent just for your reaction. It'll sting you just to read about it but only make me laugh.

I'm sure there are hundreds of Robert Lees around. Now you're discriminating because of someone's name!

That's ridiculous!

And many of them were intentionally named after the good General since the man is still revered. If anything, all this shrieking from the left will ensure that he remains revered for many many more generations.

Quote:
CBS2’s Kramer asked if the name New York City would be changed since it was named for the Duke of York; a slave trader.

His press secretary said he doubts the commission will put that idea on the table.

I guess the expense of doing that is more important then not offending people.

Otherwise DeBlasio is acting like a typical politician handing off the issue to be "studied" until after the election. After the election if the remove the monuments thing is still going strong on the left you will see a lot of monuments come down because he fancies himself as the leader of the progressives.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito who has been pushing this had no problem offending policemen when she invited a terrorist to lead the Puerto Rican Day Parade.
