The problem with the old trolley systems was going under the wheels and getting cut into pieces, nowadays this less likely to happen due to better design.

Portland has great light-rail lines, a new one just opened in mid-September.

The new model of train is much more fun to ride than older models.

Huh? What mangled English?

If you're referring to the tram/trolley thing, hey, there are different terms used between here and there, and they're both correct :D

I'm in some internet model train groups with guys from all over the planet; and, even though in UK, USA, Australia, and New Zealand we all speak English, it ain't the same language!

What makes them fun?

I have always heard that Portland has very good urban planning.

Hey Tim, ain't it amazing how much better off people are when they do that, eh.

Sure is.

The new model of trains are sleeker and roomier than older versions.

Austin is very close to getting a light-rail system. They're working through a whole lot of crap before they can open it up, though.

Sorry for the mangled English. It is not dyslexia, which would make it at least consistent. It's executive dysfunction. Oh joy!

Unmangled topic

Your English is not mangled, 0et. The word "tram" is not in use in USA, but we in Canada know what it is. But we use the term "streetcar", instead of "tram", and "light rail" is a mini subway vehicle which is termed LRT (Light Rail Transit) and it runs above ground, not below, like the Tube or Underground in the UK.

I don't think this would be too practical for a city like Milwaukee. They've talked about one for years but it just seems like it would be a money pit. No matter what they do they're not going to get people out of their cars here. The bus has a bad enough reputation as it is. The money should be spent on reducing crime and improving our broken school system in this city instead. Its been a pretty big issue here for years.
