Yet another bunch of goons beat up a helpless Aspie girl.
I think mentioning her autism was irrelevant to what happened. Even NT kids get arrested when they get violent so I don't see how this was discrimination. I wonder if our thoughts would have been any different if they didn't mention her disability. I bet we all wouldn't be calling it discrimination. I sure don't call it that even though they did say she had autism. It looks like to me it's okay to arrest normal kids for being violent and we are expecting special treatment by not getting arrested for being violent or else it's discrimination.
i agree with you, but i seen a lot of report about normal kids arrested i still said ashame the school should no kids throw tantrum, like stories like this only 5.

I bet when black kids get arrested for violence and Asian kids or Chinese kids or Russian kids, I bet people would read about it and say they were arrested due to their race and also call it discrimination.
But what would they say if it was a normal kid that got arrested and he or she was white? I bet they wouldn't call it discrimination. I once heard a story about a school calling the police on a 1st grader for slapping a girl's butt on the playground and they were going to charge him for sexual harassment. I thought that was so stupid and even the mother of the child didn't agree with that the school and the police. I bet if he were autistic or black, people would call it discrimination and say he couldn't help it just because he was autisitc. ![]()

can understand why that was her favorite hoodie. it was cute
& what they did was just stupid.
Who calls he cops on an 8 year old?
& what kind of teacher doesn't allow a kid to attend a social gathering for wearing a cute hoodie?? Make absolutely no sense

Times were different then.
Why do these weirdos phone the police when a child has a meltdown? Look at that kid- I could lift her with my pinky finger! Are they telling me that they couldn't restrain a child that small? I know that some chilren are insanely strong and energetic, but honestly, that is just daft. Whatever happened to leaving them alone to calm down?
And anyway, I can sort of understand why she threw a tantrum; it's was a stupid reason to punish someone. It's just a hoodie (and a very nice one for that matter). I suppose the teachers were concerned that she'd get harrassed or something for wearing something like that, but I bet that if she got that hoodie from a retail store, they wouldn't be complaining (I've seen kids wear rain coats that are supposed to look like animals that nobody complains about and somehow the hoodie is offensive?).
Even if the child didn't have aspergers, I would still side with the child. It's not fair to isolate a child from their peers in a room with two guards as if she is a hardened criminal just because of the hoodie she is wearing. It also stupid (special needs or not) to phone the police so that they could restrain an eight year old. That must have been very traumatising for her. I think the staff need to be replaced.
This is not to say that I condone her being violent- I just think that she was just reacting to being a victim of a really daft punishment for something that wasn't wrong in the first place. Also, she's eight for f**k's sake!
While I don't want to encourage prejudice towards the police (because I'm sure many of them are decent and professional) this incident reminds me of this song:
The girl tried to leave the room so the teachers grabbed her to stop her and she started hitting them and kicking so they called the police. She weighed 54 pounds and come on, they couldn't restrain her arms and legs? She was very small for her age.
The mother claimed they wanted her to tuck in the tail and tape down the ears and she refused. So I don't know why the media is saying the teacher wanted her to take off her cow hoodie. No matter how many times I will keep saying it, people will always keep saying they wanted her to take off the hoodie.
Here is where the mother said it:

I believe it is a phenomenon called the Peter Principle which states that "in a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence."
So the administrators are the ones that are too stupid to teach (pretty scary thought if you've seen how stupid some teachers are) therefore they were promoted to get out of the way of the actual teaching.
