Perhaps that is actually what this is. Somebody dropped the vial of death in the bio-weapons lab, and forgot to mop up..

If you're interesting in emerging diseases, read Laurie Garett's The Coming Plague: Newly emerging diseases in a world out of balance. Its a comprehensive history of 20th century epidemiology, the researchers who tracked and identified the new diseases, and the lessons learned from various mistakes made.

You may also like Ken Alibek's memoirs regarding his directorship of the Biopreparat, the Soviet biological warfare unit during the Cold War. Some of the "oops" moments he saw first hand can terrify you.

Luckily homosexuality is still frowned on over there so it will stay a public health issue and get addressed rather than it becoming a "civil rights" issue and have no attempt made to contain it.

These patients keep their lives hidden from others. Besides discussing their individual symptoms with fellow patients, they would not let others know their situation, even relatives who have become infected by them. They say they are afraid of being discriminated against, hated, and abandoned.

I realise the reasoning of those infected but passing a virus of this nature on (on purpose) is horrible.

Its typical homophobic tripe perpetuated by some whitebread cracker a**holes living in a redneck paradise. In the early 80s AIDS was referred to as 'Gay Cancer' among other ignorant things. The truth is it is a cousin to the SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) and probably began as a result of poor vaccination culture techniques in certain areas of Africa where SIV is common. SIV is not a 'homosexual ape phenomenon', so when I hear ignorant statements such as AIDS/HIV being somehow only related to gay people, I can't help but laugh at their ignorance. We have to share our world with some stupid, stupid people unfortunately

It might have been in '96 that I heard about it and it wasn't over the internet. Internet access wasn't quite widespread yet.

And yes, it is very much a gay disease. According to a 2004 CDC report the percentage of new AIDS cases due to homosexuality accounted for 60% of the cases for adult males. That number goes up to 2/3 of all new adult male cases if you count homosexuals that use IV drugs. That's quite a feat for such a tiny demographic group.

Some sinister elitist world domination group has finally begun its final assault in controlling the human population. A hard kill in the most populace nation in the world would be the most likely target for such a thing and would explain the lack of news coverage.
