While it is sad, I have to ask - being that Winehouse' behavior was already legendary, is anyone really surprised?

Sad, and a tragedy for the music she might have made if she ever got herself back on track, but really, I've been waiting for this. She just... didn't seem able to stop.

This is so sad, but not surprissing. What a waste of talent. She was not even able to sing anymore. I watched her lasts concerts in youtube. Her voice was horrible due to the drugs and the alcohol abuse. She was a very troubled and lonely child. I LOVED Amy. I have Frank and Back to Black. She was an amazing singer/writer. Het lyrics were honest, and her voice amazing. I hope she finds peace now.

Even though I didn`t enjoy her music she was still a person. I feel bad too! She joined the 27 club! RIP Amy Winehouse

Dysaster topic

My youngest was a fan of Ms Winehouse. Just too young. :(

Miss Winehouse was a trainwreck. It's very sad that she died so young. Unfortunately, she let her demons take control of her as many celebs do. It's all terrible & sad, but completely expected. In fact, I am surprised she made it to 27.

Very sad news. I'm shaken by this. It's a shock because she's of my generation (only 4 years older), and she was a cornerstone of contemporary pop culture.
When Aaliyah died in 2001, it was different for me because I was too young to feel quite as involved.

purchase, hang in there.

Amy Winehouse, I liked her music, she was good. She got caught up in the crazy lifestyle of drugs and partying like many celeb's and normal people do. She now part off the " 27 Club" of musicians who died at 27.

Actually I was quite interested in Amy Winehouse for a while. I read about her in a magazine, and the info posted in the article was so interesting I searched her in youtube. The first video I watched was a live performance in Jools Holland, "Stronger than me". Her voice, style and lyrics blew my mind. I found quite interesting the fact that this talented girl with that beautiful voice and strong lyrics looked scared on stage (that's rather unusual). I noticed the same reaction in some other videos and pics. Then I read she was bulimic from a very early age. I think the problem with Amy is that she was very sensitive, shy and had self-esteem issues. I think she started abusing drugs and alcohol in order to gain confidence and being able to handle "success", and then she was not able to stop. I think the real cause of her dead is not the alcohol and drug abuse. Other musicians abuse drugs and alcohol for years (Rolling Stones?) and nothing happen to them. I think the problem was the mix of her fragile health due to the eating disorder plus the drugs and alcohol. Deadly combo. It's too bad. I feel really sorry for her.

Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and now Amy Winehouse all died at 27. Justin Bieber turns 27 in 2021.

Patience, everybody.

I was quite shocked when I looked at the online paper and saw this.
I was not really into her, but I was aware she had problems and was tortured and I suppose because I am quite sensitive myself, and have had eating issues etc, I could relate to her issues, if that is the right way to put it.
I think maybe she was simply too fragile to deal with the sort of lifestyle that celebrity landed her in.

I think you may be onto something there. The military has done studies on those going into combat, finding that the more robust individuals were the least likely to come back with mental issues. In other words, they could deal with the intense stress.

The same with people on the spectrum, some are more robust than others, and are less likely to suffer co-morbid issues than others.
