I don't know if the type of people who post comments under news stories are representative of society at large or not. If they are, then that is really sad and scary. It means we live in an uneducated, violent, selfish society......yeah, that's probably about right.

I read the article.

I understand parents need to event. Caring for autistic children is challenging and not always rosy and sunshine.

But what unsettles me greatly is that so many people seem to be showing empathy for the mom rather than the murdered child who has no say in the matter.

I am completely aware that people with post-partum depression and certain psychotic illnesses lose touch with reality and do unspeakable things. But it just troubles me to no end when I see all this sympathy poured out for the mother but not the son.

It really makes me angry actually.

Autistic people will do fine their own. The last and the very last thing in this world that they need is someone who despises taking care of them.

I hate to repeat my point, but damn, seriously. The mom is not a hero. She killed her son. Sorry to be dramatic but this issue makes me angry.

So have I. At one time, that young man would have been "fixed" by the state, so there's no chance of him reproducing. I dare say, plenty of us on WP might have undergone that fate, as well.
