It would not surprise me if Ft. Lauderdale isn't home to the ueber-rich (think Koch Brothers). Rather than feed and help the poor, just make them disappear, either by hook or by crook.

I read that in latin America there are paramilitary gangs that go around exterminating the homeless.

what a topsy turvy nation we've become, when do-gooders are punished but evildoers [towns that pass anti-homelessness laws] are rewarded.
?If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin.? - Charles Darwin

Kinda reminds me of Talmudic descriptions of Sodom and Gomorrah, where charity was punishable by death.

Cases like this makes me wish reincarnation was real, so those rich bastards could come back as the homeless and see what they had put the poor through.

I definitely believe in reincarnation because without it, karma is meaningless. AFAIC these scrooges running the city council down there are short-sighted fools. all they can see are dollar signs.

I'm surprised that a vet would continue his career up to that age. As for the homeless, why would they taboo helping such people? It's like it's illegal to be homeless and for others to help them.

vagrancy laws essentially do just that, make it illegal to be poor.

Absolute giant crock of crap. This is a 90-year-old veteran who SERVED in World War II, has been THROUGH the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War AND the Wars on Afghanistan and Iraq...and gets arrested for doing something nice. What's next - a volunteer arrested for walking dogs? This country has gone upside down...fast.

We have to depend on Michael Moore, now.
