what's up with newsman brian williams?

To me, he should be fired no question since the most important part of being a journalist to me is trust and once it is gone you can't get it back. The precedence should be set that liars and manipulators of the media risk their professional lives doing so, what are saying if Brian Williams is allowed to continue? We can't live in a world where "fake but accurate" is a tolerable excuse for lies, it's insane to me.The media is this country has such a serious disconnect with most Americans and cannot be trusted as we all saw with the lead up to the Iraq war so this just further exemplifies how we have to take everything the mainstream media says with a grain of salt. They will sensationalize, editorialize, and straight up lie and for who's benefit? You can say its about profits and it is but its obvious there are very powerful entities that exert influence on the media in this country from government and big business. The scary thing is the lines between the government, big business, and the news media are becoming more and more blurred and they do not represent the American people.

I think this should apply to politicians too. If they get caught in a deliberate lie, they need to be fired automatically.

but didn't the court just say that lying in political campaigns was protected speech?

I think this should apply to politicians too. If they get caught in a deliberate lie, they need to be fired automatically.


I don't disagree and part of me would go even further, those in power who commit crimes against the American pe ople and our constitution should have an appointment with Madame Guillotine. Think about all the real criminals in oour our country that live out their lives in luxery who are responsible so much pain and suffering in this country and around the world while our government destroys the lives of people that commit some victimless crime or fail to pay into their protection racket.

Would hope that Walter Cronkite would have said that a helicopter had taken hostile fire, and he was able to talk with that crew when his arrived later.
As for lying about something like that, he would've probably had a harsh reply indeed.

Jon Stewart in other news is leaving the Daily Show... You don't think... ?

the "headsman" is too good a fate for them, they need to be boiled in oil! no, even THAT is too good for them. they need public prostration in the stocks. they need to be branded on their foreheads and hands with a scarlet E for EVIL, a mark which warns good people to refuse them lodging and to shun them forevermore. as for Williams, I feel sorry for his family.
