Andrea Yates drowned her children in her home, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, so Susan Smith is the one who claimed a black guy carjacked her, took the car with her kids in it, and drove it into the lake or river or whatever.

Yeah. I just looked it up, and Susan Smith is the one who claimed the carjacking.

So many I get them confused, but it is women who kill their children. Men do kill other people's children, perhaps one of their own in the heat of anger, but it takes a woman to dress them, strap them in the car seats, and drive three into a lake, or take them one at a time into the bathroom and drown them.

Something about this story does not seem right. The news flashes Horror, but rarely a followup.

Inventor, I would have to disagree. Men kill their own children as well. Look at John List or Brad Bishop. John List shot his three children (as well as his wife and mother) one at a time, as they came home from school or practice. He slept the night in the same house - with his family wrapped in sleeping bags downstairs - and even ate breakfast there before leaving. Brad Bishop bludgeoned his family - also three children, wife, and mother - to death one night. The three boys were sleeping. He also wrapped them, then took them to the car, then buried them in a forest. Both of these men were very capable of murdering their own children.

Women are more known for murdering their children because they rarely murder outside the family. That's not to say that they never do - there are cases, of course - but they are far less likely to strike outside the home. Men are more likely to externalize their anger, and kill strangers, friends, or others outside their family and are better known for it. However, they do kill their own children.
