The efficiency of vaccination in a population depend of herd immunity, meaning that if there is fewer vaccinated peoples even those who have been vaccinated are more vulnerable.

If peoples listen to anti-vaxxers is not because anti-vaxxers have good points (So far they don't.), it's because peoples are stupids. Personally I don't want to die from a epidemic because some millions of idiots think vaccines cause autism.

Well even if you do not have a cervix you can be damaged by the HPV virus, I have read that it can cause cancer of male parts such as the penis. Trust me as a man that does not sound like a fun disease to have.

I do not know how much of a threat HPV poses to a woman if you ignore the cervix, but I know that some viruses can be spread during oral sex. I think that the virus can cause disease if spread to the mouth area.

Why does there need to be a vaccine against a disease that is so easy to avoid. If you don't want to contract a sexually-transmitted disease, then just don't have sex with someone you barely know. Why is that so hard for so many to do these days?

I wouldn't call myself an 'anti-vaxxer', but I do have serious doubts about the need, safety and effectiveness of all of these needles that we seem to be getting these days. Is it really true that in the United States by the age of four a child has has something like 40 separate vaccinations? If true, isn't this... I don't know - excessive?

So? So a vaccination is mandated for an activity that is purely optional, and the justification for this is the belief that 'most people will eventually engage in it'. Well, if people want to be promiscuous then let them get the damn vaccine!

The HPV vaccine and chicken pox vaccine were not recommended by doctors in my area because of questions of how actually effective they were. The former only protected against one strain of HPV out of many, if I remember correctly. The chicken pox vaccine provided a limited window of protection, and does not prevent shingles in adulthood.

I don't rate those two diseases in the same category as polio, MMR, etc. Preventative healthcare is good, but it has to get weighed against the odds. What is the likelihood of 1. Contracting HPV and 2. The percentage of cases of cervical cancer linked directly to HPV, vs infected people who don't develop it. 3. If the vaccine knocks out one HPV strain, is that the only one linked to a higher cancer risk?

Medicine isn't a black or white area in some cases, but more about trying to play the odds in your favor. Questioning is a good thing, as long as reliable information/data is out there.

Look, let's be realistic here. From what I understand, the HPV vaccine is most effective when administered before people become sexually active. We don't know if a particular child is going to become sexually active when they start going through puberty or not but if they do, then at at least there'll be some protection.

Only real way to be safe is celibacy. Just because you know someone, doesn't mean you know what they're doing when you're not around.

Also, you can't always prevent things from happening to you. If you're assaulted and forced into it, you could still end up getting infected, despite making a decision to remain celibate.

Sick apes used to have the decency to just die, or get over it. HPV is not like that, once established the entire future will get infected. Now that we still have a pool of young people who did not get infected in the womb, or at birth, we should take the risk of protecting them.

People thinking they have control over their bodies by not getting vaccinated is ridiculous. When you get a disease that could have been prevented you have no control over what unpleasantness your body does. You end up really sick for weeks or develop life-threatening complications? Have a good time attempting to control that.
