Is Corona light?

IIRC, it has around 4.5% ethanol content. Which tends to be mid to high strength depending on where you live.

Unless they make a Corona "Light".

In Canada, 4.5% IS light. Normal beer around here is at least 5%, if not slightly greater. For comparison, Rickard's Red, my "normal" beer, is 5.2%.

Ok.

I think anything over 4% is full strength here.

I've found little difference in taste between 4-6%, though.

Many beers I've tasted that near 6% are pretty vile--approaching cheap malt liquor territory.

An exception was Shiner 102 Double Wheat. It was 6.2% abv, but damn, it was good!

Most of the PA's, IPA's and Porters I drink run between 4.5% and 5.6%.

Edit:

I just checked and the Porter I usually drink is actually 6%... so, maybe higher % beers aren't all bad.

But I have had a lot of high alcohol beers that just taste like crap.

I prefer a very bitter beer, with notes of sage and other herbs. Some of my favorites are; Lagunitas- Little Sumpin' Sumpin', Little Sumpin' Extra and Little Sumpin' Wild, as well as Russian River's- Pliny The Elder. I really enjoy going IPA tasting. I am one that drinks beer for it's taste, first, and then the buzz. I am the same way with Chocolate. The darker (and more bitter) the better for me. And, on a side note, I love to pair dark chocolate with beer - as weird as that could seem.

It's more to do with what type of beer it is, really. You can get super strong tasting 0% stuff. Coopers Ultra Light tastes stronger than many of the 5% ones you can buy to me. The "strength" index is usually to do with the limit for driving, say 2 lights equal 1 heavy.

For my taste buds, I need about 13% (stronger wine) to start noticing the ethanol. At about 20% (fortified wine) there's a burn on your throat (mine anyway).
