I think they probably will but some of those seats they are only leading by 5-10 votes. They don't want to call it yet.

Canadians are quite predictable when it comes to elections.

Not always. The Liberals in the last election suffered the worst defeat in the parties history. They had less seats than the NDP.

They were just waiting for the favored son to rise to power.

Yeah, I'm definitely hoping people didn't vote for a name but I'm sure many did. He is not the same as his father was so they will be disappointed.

They probably voted for him because Target left Canada and the CN Dollar collapsed with the economy.
Canadians love themselves some Target shopping.

I guess Canada will have to wait one more generation to transition to capitalism and free market.

Today Canada went to the poll to elect the next parliament.

Will Canada reelect the Conservative Party and their current Prime Minster to a 4th consecutive term?
Or are the Canadians truly sick of Conservative rule and restore the Liberal Party to power?

To form a majority government a party needs to win 155 sets out of 308 in the House of Commons.
The party that wins the most seats has the right to nominate the next Prime Minister.

Right now the Liberal Party is sweeping Atlantic Canada (Eastern part) dominating the other parties.
There is a very good chance Liberal Party will return to power with a majority government.

Will tonight be the night the Canadians return to their socialist roots?

Friendly correction: 170 seats are required for a majority. The total number of ridings increased for this Election. :)

Canadians like shopping at US Target because Canadian Target was more expensive than every other store we have. The CDN Dollar collapsed because of oil, the Canadian economy is closed tied to oil because it is a major export.

There are no pure capitalist free market countries.

Looks like the Liberals are going to win, only question is by how much. Taking Quebec certainly helped them.

Doesn't matter.
This vote is being interpreted as Canada rejecting capitalism and the U.S.

Could you help me understand your view.
None of the Parties are anti-US in any way.
Also, I've never heard of the Libs as being viewed as anti-capitalist.
Who is interpreting the vote as you have stated?

Canadians have been losing store chains one after another starting with Target.
You guys lost Best Buy/Future Shop (They are better now), Sony stores, Toys R Us (to some degree), Even some Apple stores were downsizing.

You must be Canadian.

Outside of Canada the analysis is vastly different, especially the U.S. and UK.

Not surprised by the Liberal victory but wasn't sure it would be a majority. Hopefully this victory bodes well for Canada. The real test comes when he takes office and starts being faced with the tough choices. Wishing him best of luck.
