Money equals speech. Attempts to limit the role of money ultimately limit speech. It has been adjudicated.

I hope you don't actually believe that perversion of reason.

no use trying to communicate with somebody who believes he's on the rocket ship to membership in the 1%.

Welcome to the "New" Gilded Age. For those who do not know what the "Gilded Age" was, writer and humorist, Mark Twain, wrote the novel The Gilded Age ridiculing Washington D.C. and many of the leading figures of the day. All this industry produced a lot of wealth for a number of businessmen like John D. Rockefeller (in oil) and Andrew Carnegie (in steel), known as robber barons (people who got rich through ruthless business deals).

I have made less than 40K my whole life, and a large portion of my life made less than 20K. One thing I have figured out is that if you manage your money well you can still save up money even if you don't make very much. Even if you just saved 10 dollars out of every pay check, if you managed not to spend it for a couple of years you can still save up $500. I have a separate saving account and put as much money in it as I can, and I have saved up quite a bit doing that.

it is my considered opinion that you would be far better off investing that 10 buck$ every paycheck in a basket of dividend-producing products such as shares of stock, bonds, MLPs and REITs. that is what I have been doing for a while now. put your money where it will pay you for the privilege of keeping your money!

Pay you until it all crashes, and you're left with pretty toilet paper.

I dunno about that, much money is actually dirtier [from a microbial stance] than most crappy butts.

I have money stocks as well. A lot of people living paycheck-to-paycheck my consider even safe stocks to be too risky until they save up a little money to get started.

it is forbiddingly hard to get one's head above water when one is having to live paycheck to paycheck, subsistence level. I was stuck in that grind for many years.

These were the conditions of the "Gilded Age" from 1865-1913

The middle class was the product of a free, industrial economy. (Before the Industrial Revolution, 80-90% of everybody were farmers, and mostly subsistence farmers at that.) It could survive a transition from heavy industry to other forms of production, but it won't survive the gradual loss of economic freedom. RIP.

Here in the United States there were two Industrial Revolutions. One from 1800-1860(Antebellum America). The Second Industrial Revolution took place from 1865-1913.
