Poor rural voters get karma for voting trump

Every leftist seems to stand up for social justice until the poor white trash in rural states are brought up. Hell I know people that have said Texans deserved to die from measles and climate change as "karma" for being a red state run by a fascist on wheels.

So yes, I don't many friendly vibes from the left. Not that the right is any better.

Again, it's the left that still brought everything to the rural white poor that the right wants to cut. So obviously, not everyone on the left fits that mold.

Never my intention to mock anyone. Purpose of this thread is the realisation in many folks in rural America who chose to vote for trump knowing he would cut medicaid and that they and their children rely on it.

Some simple math, 36% of people who voted for trump are rural. 77,302,580 people voted for Donald so that's 28 million rural Americans. Now here's the kicker! 30% of these cant afford private health cover so that's 9 million trump rural voters. I'm not even counting the other 15 million urban/city trump voters who are unable to afford private health insurance. that's actually a total of 24 million MAGAs who either live in poverty or are working close to minimum wage and need medicaid.

But living in rural areas is much worse because of:
a) unemployment
b) lack of medical accessible free medical services
c) poorer health outcomes linked to poor diet, drug and alcohol abuse

Hence my argument, hatred of minorities > one's own health

We need laws that force everybody in the US to embrace NYC/San Francisco/Seattle values.

^^^ Values that are carefully passed down intergenerationally in a largely homogenous environment surrounded by like minded people. Not unique to America but the rise of the MAGA movement and the associated cult like emergence of qanon suggest a a re-examination of American values being passed down and whether they are healthy thing for a countries overall wellbeing.

Why not just follow China's example and force rural Americans into reeducation camps complete with ethnic cleansing?

^^^ People have to voluntarily change as a society. Americans on average in 2025 are far more tolerant than average Americans in the 1950s.

there's a funny advert with Cher where she dreams of going back to the 80s dressed as a punk rocker. Instead of the 1980s she's sent back to America in the 1680s. the American settlers seeing Cher dressed in punk took all of a few minutes to grab her and tie her to a stake and burn her as a witch.

But even in the 1980s America was still not a safe place for minorities. But values can change.

As a gay racially mixed man (though admitably I pass for white) with a diagnosed mental illness I can tell you America isnt a safe place for minorities today either especially where I live. And it's like that all over the world. I do feel like we are going backwards as a society and it scares me, but the left isn't offering any solutions that I believe will actually fix our problems.

I openly cross dress in expensive clothes I buy online from places like Revolve.com. $200 watch. $200 shoes that color coordinate with the rest of the outfit. I have a rack with a couple dozen shoes to choose from.

As my own Spokane/Spokane Valley isn't that far off geographically or culturally from the Seattle area, I personally don't have a problem with your suggestion.

I think it's more sad than anything that a good majority of the rural population are easily misled into voting against their own best interest and end up suffering, though it should be understandable given the contempt generally held for the poor rural working class everywhere you look in this world.

The truth is, many people - not everyone by any measure - living in rural areas are too conservative for their own good. I've seen it among my fellow inhabitants of eastern Washington. My own father couldn't wait to get away from the rural life he had been raised in. The way people regard country people isn't always fair, but it's a reflection of how many of them present themselves.

I guess that's true. It's like that old saying about how all stereotypes exist for a reason...

I will never have those values even if its legally required for me to have those values. I will always have small town Texas values.

^^^ Yeah you can't force people to change their values. It has to happen organically. But I think Tim is talking about being welcoming and tolerant of outsiders who are different.
