That is pretty much nonsense, and I hope you don't actually believe what you just said. "Tak[ing] the suspect down" is more complicated that you apparently think it is. He was slashed in the face with a knife and had a head hurled into his car.
If you truly think that he should be punished, I truly think that you should be put in the exact same situation so that we can see how you react.

I disagree. Life is equally important. Humans have this tendency to think that they're superior, but that's just egotistical.
Postperson - I would guess that heads are one of the most identifiable parts of the body. To remove the head is, in essence, to remove the identity of the victim. In the case of carrying the head around, it's pretty much parading what you have done and what you have taken from the victim, without the inconvenience of a heavy body to drag around.
