A court in New Zealand changed a kid's name from something absolutely ridiculous (it wasn't offensive, it was just really long and stupid), but that was New Zealand.

I don't think the kids will end up changing their names. These poor kids don't even have a chance. They're going to be brainwashed every second.

I think the only way to be fair is to allow people to name their children whatever they choose. It's freedom of expression. Anyone who does not like the name their parents gave them can legally change it once they reach a certain age, or they can go by a nickname that is either related or unrelated to the one on their birth certificate. People do all of the above all the time.

Adolf isn't an uncommon name even in Germany, I believe it means 'Noble Wolf'. But why name their kids like this... sigh

And I thought that guy from Tennessee was crazy for naming his newborn daughter "Sarah McCain Palin"... behind his wife's back.

Imbeciles of parents.

People do a lot of weird, stupid, morally questionable, and just plain harmful things, if you haven't noticed.

Give the child a GOOD name! These might give a kid self esteem issues!

Look, not that I agree with it, but they certainly have the right to name their children that if they want. Adolf is a wonderful name which unfortunately received a bad reputation when a dictator rose up with the name. I don't know about naming your kid Hitler, but Adolf is a perfectly acceptable name in my book.

But I certainly support the parents in what may have been the biggest decision of their lives.

I think I read somewhere that parents named their child 'Number 7 Bus' and a judge ordered that it be changed.

i think everyone should have the choice to name themselves, there are so many people in the world who would rather have another name because it sounds 'cool' whereas others would prefer a name that suits them, for example:

Martin - from the roman god of war Mars... i love ancient history and am fascinated with ancient warfare, i guess i was one of the lucky ones.

parents name their children what they want their children to be called, i don't think it's fair that anyone has to go by what their parents want, the same as a parent choosing their child's job or higher education even if the child chooses differently.

This is America and people have a right to be stupid and to stupid things like that. Personally, I think it was cowardly. If the parents had an ounce of bravery, they would have changed their names instead of saddling their children with those horrible names!
