You are saying that the scientific consensus agrred with him at the time?.

Take Semmelweis who appears in goldfish21's avatar as another example. The scientific consensus was that doctors washing their hands to prevent the transmission of bacteria was incorrect and that Semmelweis was a crackpot for making such a cliam.

And what about the scientific consensus that homosexuality was a disorder / mental illness?

Yes and there used to be scientific consensus that darker skinned races were intellectually inferior based on their skull shape (many people on the right wing of politics still believe this) but times change.

Today we have international peer review, something that didn't exist back in the day when homosexuality was considered a disorder or when doctors believed that that the brain and body were not connected or washing hands was a waste of time to prevent transmission of microbes (having said that washing hands with soap or sanitizer isn't 100% effective which is why surgeons and nursing staff need to wear gloves)

The system of peer review started back in the 18th century. And argumentum ad populum is still considered a logical fallacy.

To YOU (who endlessly gets everything wrong and misrepresents what people say. Learn the damn lesson and ask what people mean rather than doing the same thing over and over again.

What the hell have scientists got to do with historians firstly? Also saying they use the Nazi trick isn't the same as saying they are all Nazis. Not to a rational person anyway.

Proper International peer review of scientific research involving humans didn't start till after ethics guidelines were drawn up following the Helsinki declarations which standardised research science around the western world including the old Soviet union and China in 1964.

What existed prior was based on discrepancies in the validity of human research (for example almost all human research in the US was flawed as i) the research was done in situ (within a lab in the US) without proper replication and ii) almost all the participants in human research were white males which lacked external validity when applying findings to children, females, non-whites and non-Americans.

I know this because I have published scientific literature before. I trust you are learning something at least about the acquisition of knowledge rather than listening to like-minded people who fill your head with biased information.

I think you use cut and paste to sound more knowledgeable than you are. And I think that your sudden claim of being a scientist is bogus.

"Justify your qualifications" does not even make sense as I see it. As for you providing poof of being a scientist, who has published scientific literature, that is up to you.

Since when is that the definition of “Scientist?”

My friend's partner is a Geologist. He accurately describes himself as a Scientist. AFAIK he, and nearly all Scientists with formal Science educations &/or professions (or even amateur/hobbyist types) have not “published scientific literature.” (Unless their work notes/reports count.. but I assume by published that you mean in a peer reviewed scientific journal of some sort.)

Just because someone doesn’t make submissions to a science journal and get them published doesn’t mean that they aren’t a scientist. They’re simply not one that’s been published in a journal.

Cyberdad said he is/was a professional scientist who has published scientific literature. What I posted was written in direct relation to that and nothing else.
