Dude, that is trolling right there you just mentioned. You agree with someone's view but you still decide to argue with them anyway about it acting like you don't agree.

02 The Persistent Debate Troll

I haven't followed this thread in detail, but I don't see how fact-finding and the pursuit of clarity is ever wrong.

What I do know is the character of Brictoria.
He is someone I respect for his critical thinking skills. 8)

For clarity's sake, are you calling Brictoria a troll?

Also, as I said previously, I haven't followed this tread to any great degree, but I see no evidence that Brictoria is arguing against people.
He is asking for clarification.

Please copy and paste where Brictoria is presenting a political argument.

Also, don't you think it a little naive to automatically accept information presented without applying one's own critical thinking tools/skills?
Here in Australia, we generally don't automatically accept what is presented.
Well, those with an open mind, at least. 8)

Sound familiar?

So you think Brictoria is attempting to disrupt the thread?

I don't see how a desire to validate people's claims can be trolling.
Therefore,
I respectfully I disagree with your POV. 8)

I've locked horns with Bric on many occasions and while he's generally posing questions for debate - although he can't resist throwing in not so subtle personal shade which is a tad against the spirit of WP and while I don't mind other posters haven't been as accommodating.

Trolls have about as much self-restraint as a bowling ball. I think it's pretty easy to read for comprehension, not dramedy.

If you argue with someone you actually agree with, that is a definition of a troll. Perhaps you disagree with that definition?

I read that part of his comment as him admitting it. If he doesn't do that, he can take my post as me telling him that is trolling when anyone does it.

And he does come off to me as thinking everyone else is wrong and he is right and will keep arguing and calling everyone dishonest who doesn't agree with him. Isnt that a bit trollish you think?

This was quote from the article on the lifewire website in the article 10 Types of Trolls You'll Meet Online.

I copied and pasted it in my post and made it into a quote and also posted the url as a source I got it from.

From what I understand, you offered an article in support of your argument.
My assumption was that you agreed with what was in the article.
Are you saying you don't?
Then why post the link?

Maybe I have a troll radar

I have gotten better at picking up on it online and that has saved me a lot of drama online. I used to get into it often and it would always stress me out.

The link was posted so people here would know where I got that from and because it is not my words. I stumbled upon that article by mistake when I was reading about internet trolls and then I read this thread again when it got new responses and I saw his post where he mentioned about people arguing with you does not mean they don't agree with you.

I already knew these sort of trolls existed, they just argue just to argue. I am not the only person online who has said these people who think they are always right and just argue to be right are trolls. I just avoid them. No point in getting into a discussion with them. They're not going to change their minds so why argue?

So, once again I will ask:
Are you saying Brictoria is a troll?

Also:
I suspect, when Brictoria said he was arguing, he meant arguing for clarification, rather than arguing against an assertion.
Could you cut-and-paste where he said he was arguing with the premise of someone's position?

Pepe, check your PMs and also this this was his post right here and I couldn't find it but here is his quote:

Quote:
I don't understand how someone looking for facts gets these sorts of claims made about them...

Looking for facts, rather than unfounded assertions (or lies) presented as "facts" should be the aim of any intelligent person... Believing unfounded claims because they match what a person wants to hear just demonstrates the levels of gullibility that exist within society - Creating, or passing on, these unfounded claims simply demonstrates intellectual dishonesty.

Similarly, just because a person is challenging what YOU wish to believe does not mean they do not agree with your view of the subject being discussed, it could simply indicate that they have the intellectual capacity to understand that not everything that is presented which favours a given side will be true, and so wish to be confident in the facts regarding the subject...Though to many, "ignorance is bliss", sadly.

I bolded where I thought he admitted it.

Now this will be my last response on the topic and I don't know how any clear I can get here for you to understand.

Edit: Found it

These things are much easier to understand if you look at the events preceeding your selected post...

I initially queried a post which had some details presented in such a way as to imply they were facts. I questioned this, as I had not seen any material which confirmed them elsewhere and wanted to determine the status of them.

This questioning (the "facts" turned out to have been assumptions, conjecture, and insinuations) led to the accusation by another person of my being a person who "love trumpoleeney". The post for you accuse me of being a troll (to which I take offence) was simply me pointing out that regardless of which side of a topic you are on, it is intellectually dishonest to attack a person looking to confirm facts, or make assumptions regarding their motives (such as they are on the "other side" of the topic)...A critical thinker would question facts that agree with as well as those that disagree with what they believe, as not doing so leads to a reliance on false information and thereby the person doing so coming to faulty conclusions\being misinformed.

It's a disappointing sign when the quest for truth and accuracy is considered a bad thing, whilst blindly believing and\or disseminating information simply because it suits a given "side" is commended.
