Or, alternatively, I believe a charge-back will cost gofundme money, while still returning the full amount to you.

It's interesting that instead of taking the ethical route and refunding people's money (pro-rata), they choose to keep the donations themselves to "redistribute" to charities of their own choice, which likely won't align with the wishes of those who donated the money, given the donations were for a very specific cause\reason - I have seen some lawyers online suggesting this could come under the category of "wire fraud" (and "breach of contract"), though I haven't looked into the applicable laws to see if this is the case or not.

I also believe there's a new place to donate on "GiveSendGo", but the site is having issues due to the large influx of people wishing to donate.

It seems West Virginia's Attorney General has taken an interest in gofundme's actions:

Apparently the protest is more than about mandatory vaccines

It seems the bad publicity that came with their decision to withhold people's money to distribute as they desired has forced a positive outcome:

To simplify the process for our users, we will be refunding all donations to the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser. This refund will happen automatically—you do not need to submit a request. Donors can expect to see refunds within 7-10 business days.

The update we issued earlier enabled all donors to get a refund and outlined a plan to distribute remaining funds to verified charities selected by the Freedom Convoy organizers. However, due to donor feedback, we are simplifying the process and automatically refunding donations.

I'm guessing that Elon Musk's retweet of the following image to his 72.7 million followers may have also played a part...

In the end this could work out in the favor of the protesters, as the new site for donations (GiveSendGo) doesn't take anything from the donations, as opposed to the earlier site they used which skims 5% off the top of all donations for themselves.

Have any photos of the swastikas been shown or just rumored. I ask because I read Canada has a lot of Sikh driver and I wonder if there are also a number of Hindu drivers. I think this is a big stretch as I understand their sacred symbol has been mistaken for nazi in the past and don't know if they continue to present it today.

A few swastikas in the crowd does not make the crowd white supremacist, imho. I could be wrong but would have to see the math. I'm still waiting for the protesters to present the demands for Alberta to succeed as to keep the oil/energy.

This photo is supposed to have been taken in Ottawa. I can't prove it though.

But the photo is banning swastikas not showing them, there is difference.

Can we stop pretending they're not what they themselves admit to be?

In the comments there is a claim from someone who was there that this was an unfunny joke, the guy saying he was WS was non white or indigenous.

Apparently ~all of the top trending articles on CBC are related to this crap right now:

Black parliamentarians say protest convoy is a venue for 'white supremacists'
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/convoy ... -1.6338720

They're not wrong, IMO. Even if not ALL protesters are white supremacists, there's more than enough to taint the whole thing.

People are severing friendships over convoy protest, with some saying it shows 'true colours'
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/convoy-p ... -1.6339582

I didn't read this article, but it's true. I had someone unfriend me on Facebook because he's off the deep end on government covid conspiracy theories and thinks mitigation measures are about totalitarian control. He never posted anything on Facebook for like a decade, then hopped on to share all his pro convoy stuff and block people who disagreed with him.

I have a friend that's anti mandate and pro convoy BUT I K N O W he's not racist, but it still makes me cringe that he's okay affiliating himself with these types.

Canada is shifting to 'living with the virus' — for better or worse
https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/canada-c ... -1.6340078

Yep. But not because we're taking medical advice from truckers lol because covid is widespread and becoming endemic.. it's also a weaker form than it was ~2 years ago and more manageable thanks to vaccines and the development of treatment protocols for those severely hit by it. Science is dictating this move, not angry truckers.

Uncivil society: Ottawa's vaccine protest could be a sign of things to come
https://www.cbc.ca/radio/thehouse/pande ... -1.6340278

Several valid points. But one major one missing is that there's a bunch of pandemic-fatigued people who've been cooped up for a couple years with tons of energy to go b***h and complain about whatever. I dunno if it'll snowball into any sort of actual political movements, or if this is just a flash in the pan for angry morons to shout at science educated people for a while to get their frustrations out and then stfu and move on with their lives. It'd be wise to keep watch on all the various far right loonies, though.. from white supremacists to country destroying separatists. Can't ignore that these people and their views exist.

GoFundMe ends payments to convoy protest, citing reports of violence and harassment
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/gofund ... -1.6340526

Yep - a couple days after some Ontario/Federal politician suggested they could be financially liable for orchestrating this s**t show of an occupation of the capital. Probably the best business decision they could have made to avoid an onslaught of legal issues & costs.

Convoy protests ignoring real hardships truckers face, Peel drivers warn
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ ... -1.6340263

Great points! Good time to raise them while all eyes are on truckers.

Pedestrian and bicycle counter blockade going on in Vancouver right now in an attempt to re-route truckers away from the two major hospitals so they don't block access for patients or paramedics:

And yet Pat King (one of the organizers) is well-known for spewing racist rhetoric including 'replacement theory'.

I was just pointing out that the twitter video proved nothing but a poor judge of humour, however Pat King appears to be a nasty s**t.

1 home made flag ( Canadian flag with painted on slogans - No Pass , f**k Trudeau ) was shown 3 times and 1 actual nazi flag was shown twice. My guess is 2 although video is grainy and difficult to tell as some other Canadian flags appear to have slogans.
