Dear Aunt Blabby,
Stupidity is what I expected, but some of these people, as shown, are educated, intelligent, successful people.
I do not get it.
They have homes, careers; they have reached the goals that our society promises ‘If you work hard’ and yet THEY attacked our government.
Publicly.
Posing for pictures as they committed multiple felonies.

the stooopids are an equal opportunity attacker of the 99%. what it boils down to is that an awful lot of successful people in terms of socio-economics, are sociopathic. those types accumulate wherever and whenever money, power and sex are to be found.

It makes sense as all societies believe that competition brings the best people to the top of social power structures. In such an environment the most ruthless and sociopathic always tend to succeed.

Capitalism is literally defined by competition to bring out the best. We also have the same criteria for university, jobs and elections of leaders.

Half-baked terrorists. They had the recipe books but didn't have the guts (or brains) to do what they believe.

Sadly, no one is immune to stupidity. You don't need a low IQ to be gullible.

MAGAs have been shown to have higher levels of obedience to authority than normal people. Perhaps the DSM could consider adding it as a new disorder.

Wait a minute, I thought they went against rules and change because they are not sheep and are not group thinkers. This is why they reject the woke culture. BTW woke culture is nothing new. It's been going on for the past few decades. it started out with ending Jim Crow laws. Then in the 1980's people started to come out as gay to end the stigma and to get more human rights than being forced to be in the closet. The term woke was coined in the 1940s.

Well that's what they will tell you. In reality people who are drawn toward extremist movements tend to have a blind faith in authority (according to psychologists).

The rather simple Asch experiments in the 1950s very articulately demonstrated that many people go with the crowd even when they know the information they ate presented with is wrong. It's called informational conformity. That if large numbers of people believe something then it must be right. This is how the Trump MAGA cult started and the blind followers of QAnon and other right wing conspiracies.

But of course they need fertile ground to germinate. Social conservatism is the fertile ground. All white christian neighborhoods where people carry values that make them susceptible to snake oil merchants saying things they were already conditioned to believe.

But in keeping with this thread the outcome of Trump telling his followers to storm the captiol is self-evident, Erstwhile pillars of their community heeded the call to cause mayhem.

Perhaps the prize for the dumbest MAGA rioter ]goes to Vietnamese-American cop Tam Pham

Image

The not so clever cop contradicted his lawyer who said he was nowhere near the building after attending a Trump rally after he claimed he was infact in the capitol building looking at artwork

The FBI easily found a photo on his phone with a Pro-Trump flag parading himself through the ruins of the capitol building. Pham has been thrown out the houston police and now looks like he'll be looking at the other side of jailhouse

Oh and the prize for the most desperate low-life MAGA rioter goes to Guy Reffitt. His very brave teenage son (seen below next to his evil father) reported his father to the police after he threatened to kill his own children if any of them snitched to the police or FBI

Well done young man! another true American doing his duty

when one points out to coup lovers the essential antisocial nature of their behavior, one is lucky if one gets a "so WHAT OF IT, goody two-shoes?!" like they think they are 100% on god's side. their god seems very devilish to me.

Their god is 74 years old and in poor health. Their blind faith might just die with him.
