MAGAs have been shown to have higher levels of obedience to authority than normal people. Perhaps the DSM could consider adding it as a new disorder.
Wait a minute, I thought they went against rules and change because they are not sheep and are not group thinkers. This is why they reject the woke culture. BTW woke culture is nothing new. It's been going on for the past few decades. it started out with ending Jim Crow laws. Then in the 1980's people started to come out as gay to end the stigma and to get more human rights than being forced to be in the closet. The term woke was coined in the 1940s.
Well that's what they will tell you. In reality people who are drawn toward extremist movements tend to have a blind faith in authority (according to psychologists).
The rather simple Asch experiments in the 1950s very articulately demonstrated that many people go with the crowd even when they know the information they ate presented with is wrong. It's called informational conformity. That if large numbers of people believe something then it must be right. This is how the Trump MAGA cult started and the blind followers of QAnon and other right wing conspiracies.
But of course they need fertile ground to germinate. Social conservatism is the fertile ground. All white christian neighborhoods where people carry values that make them susceptible to snake oil merchants saying things they were already conditioned to believe.
But in keeping with this thread the outcome of Trump telling his followers to storm the captiol is self-evident, Erstwhile pillars of their community heeded the call to cause mayhem.
