Somalis living in Sweden have dubbed autism, "The Swedish disease," as it has become an increasingly common occurrence among Somali children that have moved to Sweden.

Do the Somalis think that autism couldn't possibly happen in Somalia, or what?

I call BS. My parents are from India and moved to the U.S. in the 1970s so I was born and raised in the U.S.

I've often heard Indians in the U.S. claim that "mental illness" in the U.S. is caused by "the lack of family values" and compare it to India where the social norms are much stricter and point out how "mental illness" is nonexistant in India and how everyone just "fits in and comforms". " I ALWAYS tell them that the real reason is that India is such a third world country which has no resources to focus on diagnosing mental illness and the rates are probably higher than the U.S.- it's just that they go undiagnosed.

It's totally obvious that 1) the third world does NOT have the resources to detect autism and 2) Autistic kids in third world countries are often murdered by their own families as child abuse is normalized in many third world nations.
