Something doesn't have to be written in stone in order for it to be an agreement, Obama moved the goalpost after Republicans had met his original terms, Obama had no intention of making a deal. Boehner was acting in good faith, until Obama essentially pulled the rug out from under him.

As Obama was trying to keep Boner from taking from the poor to give to the rich, I seriously see nothing wrong with that, other than that Obama failed.

I wasn't aware that closing tax loopholes would hurt the poor...

I think you know I'm talking about cutting funding for social programs.

You're neglecting the fact that our social programs need serious reform because we can't pay for them. Government promised too much.

Reform - actual reform - is one thing. Slashing the budgets entirely for said programs so that they'll die is unconscionable, as so many vulnerable people are in need of them.

Are you saying that the way to treat people who have become addicted to living off the income of others is to keep on providing what they are addicted to?

I don't live in the US, so i may be talking out of ignorance there, but aren't there food programs for the poor? =/

I personally think we all need food as a factor to function at optimal capacity in a day's time, so if it does mean cutting those kind of programs (provided they do exist, what do I know, right?), it can be pretty crippling for those people, no?

I think phil777 pretty much sums up the answer for both Inuyasha and ruveyn.

Bush drove this country into the mud with Tarp, Obama decided to not only keep going further into the mud but to go faster!.

FDR campaigned on the idea that Hoover was spending too much. Obama did the same thing concerning Bush!

WOOT FOR HERMAN CAIN!

Wasn't aware that Mr. Cain hated mormons...

Also, the housing bubble was created by the CRA, and it really started to become a problem in 1995, with Clinton's changes to CRA.

In the first Republican debate, Cain took aim at Mit Romney by attacking his religion when he said Romney's Mormonism wouldn't be acceptable to evangelicals in the south. True as that may be, it was rather bigoted for Cain to take a shot at a rival's religion.
