Of course N Korea is no stranger to famine and human abuse but the problem is, the country is on such a tight information lockdown, we can only speculate.

Yes, I was going to make a similar point about the lack of verifiable sources and evidence behind these rumours - and that is all they are, rumours - of cannibalism. One source named (the South Korean state-run Korean Institute for National Unification) does not exactly inspire confidence in their impartiality. I have the very strong suspicion that this whole story is nothing but vile propaganda.
