Some funny things about Bannon and Trump in Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/bo ... 569a1a2c6b

Trump was swept to power as the anti-establishment president who would up-end the way politics was played. And that meant filling the White House with personalities who were not part of the Washington elite.

The big problem with that, as the book makes painfully clear, is that the people he installed were woefully inept at running an administration. Be it in media strategy, congressional tactics or policy development, Trump’s band of political rookies lurched from crisis to crisis with no clue about how to turn things around.

Wolff says that the President refuses to read anything, is unable to pay attention during crucial briefings and has no interest in legislation.

“To say that he knew nothing — nothing at all — about the basic intellectual foundations of the job was a comic understatement,” the book says.

For example, adviser Sam Nunberg was sent to explain the Constitution to Trump and this is what happened.

“I got as far as the Fourth Amendment before his finger is pulling down on his lip and his eyes are rolling back in his head,” Nunberg said.

Wolff writes that Trump lacks the “executive function” to do the job.

“His brain seemed incapable of performing what would be essential tasks in his new job.

“He had no ability to plan and organise and pay attention and switch focus ... on the most basic level he simply could not link cause and effect.”

Trump’s former deputy chief of staff Kate Walsh is on the record saying that trying to set an agenda was “like trying to figure out what a child wants”.

Trump’s loose lips in shooting his mouth off on the phone meant his true thoughts about his advisers quickly circulated through Washington.

“Bannon was disloyal (not to mention he always looks like s**t). Priebus was weak (not to mention he was short — a m***et). Kushner was a suck-up. [Sean] Spicer was stupid (and looks terrible too). [Kellyanne] Conway was a crybaby,” Trump would say, according to Wolff.

And his closest advisers returned serve and told others what they really thought about the President.

“He’s not only crazy, he’s stupid,” Trump’s business ally Tom Barrack said.

Treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin and Priebus called him an “idiot”; National Economic Council director Gary Cohn called him “dumb as s**t”; national security adviser HR McMaster called him a “dope”.

I think the whole thing is about selling books. I don't think Bannnon will ever do anything more than play around for publicity. People will gobble it up of course and he'll be laughing at them all the way to the bank.

Bannon is a pretty serious Alt-Righter.

I don't think Trump is an Alt-Righter. He's just some guy who wants to be the boss, and hates it when people doubt his executive abilities.

You make it sound like he's a joke. Bannon was "chosen" by Trump as chief strategist for the position of POTUS. I don't think he's "Krusty the clown"

I don't see what that has to do with the possibility of someone milking a situation. Why isn't he having a meeting with Robert Mueller, instead of hawking a book?

Because as he is quoted saying in the book: he wasn't in the room. Therefore he has nothing useful to offer the investigation, it's just his opinion. As for milking the situation, he didn't write the book so it's not like he's making money off it for getting quoted in it. Besides, he runs Breitbart, he's got his own PR machine to do his bidding, he doesn't need an outside writer to do it.

So he hasn't received and will not receive a single cent from that book?

I agree about him having nothing useful to offer.

Probably for not much longer.

Breitbart board considers dumping Bannon: Report
Quote:
Breitbart News Network's board of directors is considering ousting embattled Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon after President Trump publicly disavowed him, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The Journal, citing a person familiar with the exchanges, says board members on Thursday were debating whether to oust Bannon from his position after Bannon called the June 2016 Trump Tower with a Russian lawyer "treasonous," according to Michael Wolff's new bombshell book "Fire and Fury: Inside Trump's White House" and after Mr. Trump issued a scathing statement saying Bannon has "lost his mind." Billionaire donor, board member and longtime supporter of Bannon's work Rebekah Mercer issued a statement published in The Washington Post on Thursday saying her family has severed financial ties with Bannon.

The president's strongly worded statement distancing himself from Bannon has given many supporters of Bannon and the president a seemingly binary choice — support Mr. Trump, or support Bannon. Mercer's statement made it clear that she stands with the president.

CBS News chief White House correspondent Major Garrett has reported, based on two sources with direct knowledge, that White House officials urged Mercer to sever all ties with Bannon in the wake of the release of "Fire and Fury." Rebekah Mercer's father, Robert Mercer, had already publicly distanced himself from Bannon and Breitbart, already stepped down from his hedge fund last year and sold his shares in Breitbart to his daughters.

Mr. Trump praised the Mercer daughter's statement on Friday morning, saying it was a "smart" move to break with "Sloppy Steve."

Bannon's political capital had already fallen considerably after Bannon-backed Republican Roy Moore, accused of inappropriately pursuing teenage girls when he was in his 30s, lost the Alabama special Senate election to Democrat Doug Jones.

It's unclear who will financially back Breitbart now, or who might replace Bannon if he departs.

Bannon’s hubris caused him to not get that it is called the “Trumpian movement” not the Bannonite movement for a reason.

I wonder if those two ever had a hubris measuring contest.

I'd put my hubris up against either of theirs. Mine's gigantic. Everywhere I go people comment on it, it's a definite conversation starter. It has it's downside though too: I can't find hats big enough to fit it in, it's always hanging out.

Most people in control of the world are psychopaths, it's as simple as that. This world is just stupid.

I think some element of sociopathy/psychopathy feeds the drive of many driven to climb social ladders - its a well known fact that to have leadership qualities you need to have limits on empathy as otherwise you can't get anything done if you are worrying about meeting everyone's needs.

Of course that leaves the door open to megalomaniacs with high levels of socio/psychopathy becoming leaders...I know I've worked for plenty of them in my time
