It's still customary to call them Mr. President or President Last name. If they don't, then how can they live up to Obama's call to "proclaim an end to the petty grievances [...] that for far too long have strangled our politics" from his inauguration speech?

I mean seriously... if anyone doesn't continue to call him President then they've failed Obama's edict.

In that few minutes between Bush leaving and Obama being sworn in, what would have happened if there'd been a terrorist attack?! There'd be no president!

As exciting as the potential for that would have been, the constitution doesn't stipulate the oath must be given before one term ends and the other begins. It happens anyway, the oath is just a formality.

I agree! The media ought to back off now and let that family live. Michelle Obama was a NERVOUS WRECK. At one point when she stood for a photo, she let out a big breath and sigh of relief. Also, if anyone noticed, Obama actually lost concentration when he had to repeat the oath because he heard sirens in the background...sounded like fire sirens in the distance. He got his grip and then continued. But I didn't like that some of the crowd "Boo-ed" X- president Bush. If they didn't like him, just leave it at that. They're Heads of State, not celebrities.
It was in VERY poor taste!

if you watch it again, (and see the news article where the Chief Justice apologized to Obama after ward), you will notice the Chief Justice got the oath incorrect and Obama waited to see if he was going to correct it before he went on.
