I think it may be informative to understand that the Climate Change movement has all of the trappings of a cult. And, like any other cult, its brainwashed members engage in a mind boggling array of mental gymnastics in a vain attempt at rationalizing and justifying their own internal cognitive dissonance. Reason, facts and logic need not apply... in fact these things are the very antithesis of their worldview. Any evidence contradictory to their dogma is never critically examined as doing so may irrevocably expose the fraudulent nature of their chosen beliefs.
Those providing arguments and evidence contradictory to cult dogma are considered heretics who must must be shouted down at all costs. Ad hominem, obfuscation, misdirection, psuedointellectual verbosity, fixation on irrelevant minutiae, baldfaced lies and other dishonest tactics are considered to be not only acceptable but necessary methods to used against the 'deniers' - because, well, they *are* heretics after all.
We wouldn't want to let a little reality get in the way of a good story now would we?
I couldn't have said it better myself,
Well, except for the attitude.
I am convinced we are twin brothers.
The zygote was cloned,
With all the good being funnelled into one,
And all the dregs into the other!
BROTHER! <hug>

When the facts don't fit the CAGW narrative what do you do?
Well, you erase evidence of the lie and pretend it never happened. What else would you expect?

And this video will have absolutely no effect on: "The Cult of Global Warming".
Evidence is irrelevant to many "Warmists". <sigh>
People,
"The Science" has not been proven,
Duh.
Damn, moit,
You are a major asset to: "The Good Guys".
BTW,
Where are our white hats?

Interesting. BOM data shows that mean sea level at Ft.Denison (Sydney harbor) is currently (Nov 2019) lower than when measurements first began in May 1914.

Damn!
He's good.
BTW,
How long did it take for you to bodgie up that spread sheet?
Nice find.
I'm back on the side of: "Truth, Justice, and all that Stuff".
Still waiting for my white hat, dude.

I think you have to consider more than just the charts or the graph, like what this source mentions:
Quote:
There are many processes that cause sea level to rise at different rates over the globe. For Sydney, one of the processes that cause a below-average rate of sea level is Glacial Isostatic Adjustment. During the last glacial cycle, large parts of the Earth were covered by thick ice sheets, often more than a kilometer thick. The solid Earth below these ice sheets deformed under this load. Eventually, these ice sheets have melted, but the Earth is still recovering from these loads, which still causes the Earth’s shape to change. For Sydney, this means that the Earth is lifting up by about 0.3 mm/yr1, which could explain a part of the difference.
Long story short: from these pictures, one cannot conclude that sea level in Sydney has risen by 0.0 cm. In fact, two independent tide gauge records show that sea level in Sydney has risen by about 12 cm since the end of the 19th century.

Not according to the chart Sailor provided.
Assuming the chart is bona fide,
It clearly shows that the mean sea level was higher in 1914 than it was in 2019.
Though,
Keep in mind that the 1914 mean was a pretty mean mean.
I think it was the highest in the entire record base.
Even so,
The chart doesn't support a consistent increasing rise in sea level.
Perhaps you can provide an "Alternative Fact" fact sheet".
The explanation you provided may explain the discrepancy,
But it doesn't support your previous statement that sea levels have risen in Sydney Harbour.
Based on what I have seen here in this thread,
The Myth has been busted.
Well, for the moment at least.
Damn pesky skeptics.

5: The Mendacity of the IPCC and Climate AlarmistsWell-informed people know that the IPCC and other alarmist individualsand organisations constantly make exaggerated claims of global catastrophe that are unsupported by true scientists, but which are repeated constantly asa mantra of climate virtue designed to frighten the weak and the gullible, including politicians; the threat of rising sea levels forms a significant part of this commentary, which is described here as an act of MENDACITY(Noun) and/or MENDACIOUS(Adjective).
147: CONCLUSIONS regarding Sea Levels1.Long term tide gauge records in Sydney Harbour show that there has been NO significant sea level rise in the harbour for the past 120 years, and what little there has been is about 0.65mm pa, or about the height of a matchbox over a century.2.This compares with global sea level rise measurements from satellites of about 3.4mm pa; some of the sea level data may or may not allow for rising sea or sinking land, and there remains uncertainty about satellite altimetry as applied to sea levels. 3.The stability of sea levels in and around Sydney Harbour is also reflected in unchanged coastal morphology along the beaches at Collaroy, using reference benchmarks built in 1875.4.The story of Sydney Harbour is also reflected in tide gauge measurements from places as far afield as Honolulu. This stability has been with us for at least the past 200 years, and possibly for at least a century ahead, given that our planet is likely to be entering a cooling phase at the end of Solar Cycle 24.5.Those in the IPCC and centres of alarmism constantly exaggerate the degree of projected sea level rise, using models which hugely over-emphasise the role of CO2. This is done to frighten gullible populations and to deflect the political class into taking expensiveandunnecessary actions against the best economic and social interests of the country. The Maldives is such an exampleof ‘crying wolf’ in order to attract greater climate funding to its government.6.All efforts should be made to allow scientific truth to flourish in all of our school curricula, in spite of ‘progressive’ alarmist attitudes that are thought to be rampant in the teaching profession.

Oh dear, go away for a few days R&R and the place is overrun with climate denialists
Australia is currently in the midst of the worst bushfire season and people have died. The Australian public is firmly behind the victims (of which there are thousands) and have no patience for arrogant and opinionated climate skeptics.
Solo Sailor and pepe are so brave I invite them both to fly to a fire zone and explain his doctrine to the firefighters who have lost their brothers.
I expect the reaction won't be pleasant

Hopefully so: it's from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. My understanding is that this is the agency responsible for installing, maintaining and reading the tide gauges.

I think it was the highest in the entire record base.
The highest mean was July 1916
The highest max was May 1974
The lowest recorded level was Aug 1982
On a related note, I went looking for the cause of the 1974 max and found this.

This post fits my definition of a personal attack.
Reported,
Not that I expect anything from it.

Erm,
Best we stick to: "Climate Change" issues,
That don't include the subject of Australian bushfires.
I'd rather have a rational discussion here if possible.
I think all hell is going to break out in t'uther thread.
